“Start with the Original Hybrid unless you already know you sleep hot or on your side, because most other OTTY hybrids are variations on its 2,000-spring build at a higher price. The Aura is the only way to spend less, and it gives up half the springs to get there.”
The OTTY range side by side
OTTY Sleep, a Leeds company incorporated at Companies House on 28 July 2016, builds almost its whole range on one idea, memory foam over tall encapsulated pocket springs. The table joins OTTY’s published specifications with our price check of 28 September 2026. Firmness is OTTY’s own rating out of 10, where 10 is the firmest.
Only the Original, Pure and the two natural models come in EU widths, and the Aura, Pure+ and Extra Firm skip the small double.
How firm each OTTY feels
OTTY’s ratings run from 5.5 for the Pure+ to 10 on the reverse of the Extra Firm, and independent testers do not always agree with them. Tom’s Guide put the Pure, which OTTY rates 6.5, at “more like an 8.5” after an 8kg weight sank only 5.5cm into it. The Guardian’s Filter review measured a maximum sinkage of 25mm under 7.5kg on the Original, closer to the firmest mattress its reviewer had tested (18mm) than the softest (40mm).
For back pain, medium-firm has the better evidence. In a randomised trial of 313 adults with chronic low-back pain published in The Lancet (Kovacs et al., 2003), people given a medium-firm mattress had better outcomes for pain in bed after 90 days than those given a firm one (odds ratio 2.36). That points most back-pain sufferers to the 7/10 models, the Original, Ice and Pure Pro, rather than the Extra Firm. The National Bed Federation’s Bed Advice UK service adds a caution about any single answer, “There’s no such thing as the perfect type of bed for a particular condition or situation (e.g. one ideal bed for a back pain sufferer).” Lighter side sleepers usually do better on the softer Pure+.
Springs, depth and weight
The Original, Pure and Ice share up to 2,000 pocket springs, each 16cm tall, in a 25cm mattress. The Aura halves that to 1,000 in 23cm, the Pure Pro adds 1,000 comfort springs for up to 3,000, and the Pure+ stacks two layers of 2,000 in 28cm. The Natural Evolve combines 1,750 micro pocket springs with a core unit for up to 4,500, while the Natural Origin has one core of up to 2,000. The Extra Firm keeps up to 2,000 but makes them larger and thicker, and OTTY marks it suitable for sleepers of 15st and over. More springs and natural fillings add weight, which matters because OTTY asks you to rotate every model once a month for the first 12 months, then every three months.
Depth decides your bedding. The Guardian’s reviewer found the 25cm Original slim enough for a secure fit with standard fitted sheets. The Pure+ and both natural models are 28cm by OTTY’s figures, so check the pocket depth of your fitted sheets before you order one of them.
Cooling and covers
OTTY bases its cooling claims on materials. The Pure and Pure Pro put bamboo and charcoal-infused foam near the surface, the Original Ice adds cooling fibres to its knitted cover, and the two natural models replace memory foam with fibre fillings. The Original Ice’s cooling-fibre cover rests on OTTY’s own claim. The Original’s knitted cover comes off for dry cleaning, the Aura’s can be machine washed at 40 degrees and the Ice’s is machine washable.
Trial, guarantee and delivery
Every OTTY mattress comes with a 100-night trial and a 10-year guarantee. Under OTTY’s returns terms the trial runs from the date of delivery, applies to mainland UK and Northern Ireland only and covers one returned mattress per household. OTTY collects the mattress at no cost and refunds within 14 days of receiving it, but deducts a £40 cleaning fee for a stained mattress, so fit a protector from the first night. The guarantee excludes use on steel bed frames with thin steel supports, and the Natural Evolve’s product description still mentions a 5-year warranty while its badges say 10 years, so ask OTTY to confirm the term in writing. Standard delivery to your front door is free, by a two-person crew in 2 to 5 working days. Room-of-choice delivery costs £10, or £40 with collection of your old mattress.
