„Most adults shopping Nectar should start with the two hybrids, since pocket springs add only £50 to the price of the matching all-foam model in a double. Pay for a Premier only if the extra 3cm of depth or back-sleeper support matters to you, and read the warranty's 4cm indentation rule before you count on it.“
The Nectar range side by side
Nectar’s UK line-up is two memory foam mattresses and two hybrids, each in a Classic (25cm) and a Premier (28cm) version, plus one reversible kids mattress. The table joins Nectar’s published specifications and sleep-position advice with our price check.
Prices per UK size, as listed by Nectar on 28 September 2026 before any checkout promotion, are below. The two Premier models cost the same in a king and a super king, so from a king upwards the choice between Premier foam and Premier springs costs nothing extra.
Memory foam or hybrid
The Nectar hybrids put steel pocket springs under the foam, and Nectar says the open coils let more air through and keep the bed cooler. That is Nectar’s own claim rather than a measured result. Only the Premier Hybrid’s spring layer is described with added structure around the edges, which helps if you sit on the side of the bed to dress. The all-foam models suit a restless partner better, because foam generally absorbs movement instead of carrying it across a spring unit. Our best memory foam mattresses comparison ranks all-foam models across brands.
How firm each Nectar feels
Nectar rates its mattresses from 1 (marshmallow) to 10 (floor), so a higher number means a firmer bed, the opposite of the European H(s) scale used in research, where 1.0 is the firmest. In a randomised trial of 313 adults with chronic low-back pain published in The Lancet (Kovacs et al., 2003), people given a medium-firm mattress had better outcomes for pain in bed after 90 days than those on a firm one (odds ratio 2.36). A 2021 review of 39 studies in the Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology reached the same conclusion for comfort, sleep quality and spinal alignment. Three of the four adult Nectars sit in that medium-firm band at 6 to 7, yet Nectar recommends only the two Premier models for back and front sleepers. It lists the Classic Memory Foam (6.5) and the softer Classic Hybrid (5) for side and combination sleepers, so a back sleeper on a Classic budget is buying outside Nectar’s own advice.
Classic or Premier
The Premier versions are 3cm deeper, carry four CertiPUR-certified foam layers instead of three, and use a cover that Nectar says has 40% more cooling fibres than the Classic range. EUROPUR, which runs the CertiPUR scheme in Europe, has certified foams retested every year by independent laboratories, so the label covers what goes into the foam, not how it feels. The upgrade costs £649 against £449 for an all-foam double, and neither Premier comes in a small double. Measure the doorway and stairs too, since the Premier Hybrid weighs 53.9kg in a super king.
What the trial and Forever Warranty cover
Nectar’s returns terms start the 365-night trial on the day of delivery but ask you to keep the mattress for a 30-night adjustment period before a return. Collection is free, and the refund is the unit price less any discount or promotional items that came with the order. The Forever Warranty replaces a defective mattress for the first 10 years and repairs or replaces it after that, with a £65 transport charge each way that Nectar waives once it confirms a defect. It covers only the original buyer on the UK mainland and only mattresses bought directly from Nectar, which matters because Nectar also sells through partner bed shops. A sag counts as a defect only when the visible indentation is greater than 4cm, and on a slatted base the slats must be at least 5cm wide with gaps of no more than 9cm. Stains and liquid damage are excluded, so a protector such as the Nectar Mattress Protector (from £39) is worth adding; our best mattress protectors page compares others.
Those rules explain most of the complaints. On Trustpilot, Nectar Sleep scored 3.5 out of 5 from 15,025 reviews on 28 September 2026, with 71% of reviews at five stars and 10% at one star, and Trustpilot’s summary of recent reviews names sagging after a relatively short time and warranty claims refused under wear-and-tear rules as the main complaints. Nectar’s product pages give no rotation schedule, and each adult model sits on a non-slip base layer, so it is one-sided. For that case the National Bed Federation’s Bed Advice UK service tells owners to “rotate it weekly in the first three months and monthly thereafter”, the cheapest protection against the dips owners report.
