Best Origin mattresses

The best Origin mattress for you depends mostly on how you sleep, because Origin's pocket-sprung hybrids differ in depth, spring count and feel, and independent reviewers do not always agree with the firmness Origin prints on its own pages. This Origin mattress review sets the Hybrid, Hybrid Pro and LumbarCloud and the cheaper Clearance versions of the two Hybrids side by side on support, temperature and UK size prices, and explains how Origin's year-round sale pricing, discount codes and Trustpilot record fit into the decision.

Stomach sleepers who want a genuinely firm surface are better served by the cheaper Hybrid.

Kaufberatung

Worauf Sie beim Kauf achten sollten

„Choose an Origin by the way you sleep first and the budget second, because the extra layers on the dearer models change the feel far more than the support underneath. The crossed-out prices are no reason to hurry either, because Origin's own small print says they include the value of the free gifts.“

Which Origin mattress suits your sleeping position?

Back and stomach sleepers should start with the Origin Hybrid, side sleepers and couples with the Hybrid Pro, and people with sore hips or shoulders who want the softest top with the LumbarCloud. In an accelerometer study of 664 working adults, Skarpsno et al. (2017) recorded 54.1% of time in bed on the side, 37.5% on the back and 7.3% on the front, so side sleepers are the biggest group and the softer Hybrid Pro heads this ranking. Origin rates the Hybrid 6 to 7 out of 10, yet Jo Plumridge scored it a firm 8 out of 10 in her reviews for TechRadar and Tom’s Guide and found it too firm for side sleeping, with a 20kg weight sinking about 7cm into the centre. Both reviews cover the earlier fixed-cover version, which Origin still sells as the Hybrid Clearance, and Origin describes today’s zip-off pillow top as twice as plush, so read the gap as a direction rather than a fixed number.

For backs, medium-firm support has the strongest evidence. In a randomised trial of 313 adults with chronic low-back pain, Kovacs and colleagues assigned firm mattresses (2.3 on the European H(s) scale, where 1 is firmest) or medium-firm ones (5.6), and after 90 days the medium-firm group had better outcomes for pain in bed (odds ratio 2.36). The authors concluded in The Lancet that “A mattress of medium firmness improves pain and disability among patients with chronic non-specific low-back pain.” A 2021 review of 39 studies by Caggiari et al. found the same for comfort, sleep quality and spinal alignment. Origin describes the Hybrid as medium-firm and the LumbarCloud as a plush top over a medium-firm core, with the Hybrid Pro in between, so the real choice is how much cushioning sits on top.

Temperature and cooling claims

Origin lists six cooling features on the LumbarCloud, including graphite latex and kapok fibre, and the Hybrid Pro also uses graphite-infused latex. Treat these as the maker’s claims rather than measured results. The LumbarCloud’s 35cm, eleven-layer build also puts far more padding between you and the springs than the 26cm, six-layer Hybrid, so if you sleep hot, weigh that extra padding against the cooling features.

Origin mattress prices in every UK size

All five listings come in the same five UK sizes. At the time of writing the Hybrid Pro Clearance cost about 10% less than the current Hybrid Pro (15% in the small double) and the Hybrid Clearance about 5% less than the current Hybrid.

Origin sale prices, discount codes and Clearance

Origin’s crossed-out prices are not a cut in the mattress price. The note under each current model says “the savings shown reflect the retail value of the complimentary products included with your purchase”, so the Hybrid’s struck-through single price is its selling price plus a £98 pillow. In late September 2026 that was an Autumn Sale ending on 5 October, with free AirSoft Microfibre pillows on all three current models and no code needed; our Origin brand page tracks the current offers. Clearance orders keep the 200-night trial and 15-year warranty but exclude the free gifts.

Trial, warranty and what customers report

Every Origin mattress comes with a 200-night trial that starts on delivery, a 15-year warranty and free next-day delivery to UK mainland addresses, while taking away your old mattress costs £54. Origin’s FAQ limits that warranty to indentations deeper than 2.54cm caused by manufacturing flaws and to foam that splits or cracks, so normal softening is not covered. Even so, 15 years is more than twice the 6.84 years that replaced mattresses had lasted on average in a National Bed Federation survey of 1,000 recent buyers (Censuswide, August 2026), in which almost 40% went within five years. On Trustpilot, Origin Mattress UK held a TrustScore of 4.2 from 2,579 reviews at the time of writing, 71% of them five-star and 13% one-star. Origin says its foams use CertiPUR-US certified materials, a claim with no certificate shown on the product pages.

Methodik

So bewerten wir

This ranking covers every mattress Origin sells in the UK, the Hybrid, Hybrid Pro and LumbarCloud plus the Clearance versions of the two Hybrids, and asks which one fits which sleeper. Each model’s overall score combines comfort (30%), support (25%), temperature (15%) and value (30%), plus a small brand adjustment that is identical for every Origin listing and so never changes their order. The Hybrid Pro leads the cheaper, better-value Hybrid by two points because its softer top suits side sleeping, the position adults spend most of the night in. Four inputs decide the most on this page.

  • Feel for your sleeping position. Origin’s own labels conflict (its compare page calls the Hybrid Pro medium plush in one table and medium-firm in another), so independent findings, such as the firm 8 out of 10 that TechRadar and Tom’s Guide gave the Hybrid, carry more weight than the maker’s wording.
  • Temperature. Origin’s cooling features, such as the graphite-infused latex in the Hybrid Pro and LumbarCloud, are treated as the maker’s claims rather than measured results.
  • Price in UK sizes. Every size price was read from the variation data on Origin’s UK product pages on 28 September 2026, with the double as the benchmark.
  • Cover and gifts on Clearance listings. Clearance mattresses keep the core of the current model but have the previous cover without the zip-off top and no free gifts, so each ranks below the current version of the same model.

Layer, spring and zone counts come from Origin’s product pages; where Origin’s compare page quotes a different spring count, the product page wins. Firmness terms follow the index used in the medium-firm against firm mattress trial by Kovacs et al. in The Lancet (2003), which rated mattresses on a scale developed by the European Committee for Standardisation.

FAQ

Häufige Fragen

Which Origin mattress is the best?

The Origin Hybrid Pro is the best Origin mattress for most people, combining eight layers, up to 5,300 titanium springs in seven zones and a zip-off pillow top for £599 in a double. Choose the cheaper Origin Hybrid if you sleep on your back or front and like a firm bed.

Is the Origin Hybrid mattress firm?

Yes, the Origin Hybrid feels firmer than its medium-firm label. Origin rates it 6 to 7 out of 10, while TechRadar and Tom's Guide both put it at a firm 8 out of 10 and found it too firm for most side sleepers. The heavier tester in the TechRadar review was comfortable on it in every position, side sleeping included.

What is the difference between the Origin Hybrid and the Hybrid Pro?

The Origin Hybrid Pro is 31cm deep against 26cm for the Origin Hybrid, with eight layers instead of six, a second spring layer of micro-springs, graphite-infused latex and seven support zones instead of five. It also feels softer, and a double costs £599 against £410 for the Hybrid.

Which Origin mattress is best for side sleepers?

Side sleepers should choose the Origin Hybrid Pro, or the Origin LumbarCloud if they want the plushest top and a reinforced centre third for the lower back. Independent reviewers found the entry-level Origin Hybrid too firm at the shoulders and hips for lighter side sleepers.

Is there an Origin mattress discount code?

No code was needed at Origin in late September 2026: its Autumn Sale, running until 5 October 2026, added free AirSoft Microfibre pillows to the Hybrid, Hybrid Pro and LumbarCloud automatically at checkout. Origin's product pages say the struck-through "savings" reflect the retail value of those free gifts and that it releases a new promotion every Monday, so the crossed-out figure is not a time-limited price cut. The cheapest way into the range is the Origin Hybrid Clearance, at £251 for a single at the time of writing.

What is Origin Mattress's Trustpilot rating?

Origin Mattress UK had a TrustScore of 4.2 out of 5 from 2,579 reviews on Trustpilot in late September 2026, with 71% of reviews at five stars and 13% at one star. The company invites customers to leave reviews and had replied to 96% of its negative ones.

Is Origin a British mattress company?

Origin is an international brand that trades in the UK through Origin Sleep UK Ltd, a London-registered company incorporated on 30 July 2021 according to Companies House. Origin's own history page says the brand was founded in 2018, keeps its core design in the UK and is also incorporated in the United States, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, while its Origin Hybrid product page says its hybrid mattresses are crafted in the UK.

How long is the Origin mattress trial and warranty?

Every Origin mattress has a 200-night trial counted from delivery and a 15-year limited warranty, which Origin's FAQ says covers indentations deeper than 2.54cm caused by manufacturing flaws and foam that splits or cracks, but not normal softening or a preference for a different feel. The same terms apply to the three current models and to the two Clearance listings. Returns are collected free and Origin says mattresses in good condition go to the British Heart Foundation, while taking away your old mattress costs £54.
