The Origin LumbarCloud is a 35cm, eleven-layer luxury hybrid with up to 8,700 pocketed springs in nine zones under a wool and cashmere pillow top, and it is Origin’s most expensive mattress at £797 for a single. Origin calls it its plushest feel over a medium-firm core, with the centre third of the pillow top reinforced for the lower back.

Construction

Origin’s LumbarCloud product page lists eleven layers, grouped here in order under a Tencel CoolWeave cover:

  1. a quilted CloudPlush pillow top filled with British wool and cashmere;
  2. two layers of bamboo-infused wool;
  3. gel-infused cooling foam and CloudCool bands;
  4. memory foam;
  5. AstroLift, an elastic gel layer;
  6. two layers of ComfortCoil micro-springs;
  7. HexaGrid foam;
  8. graphite-infused latex;
  9. a TitanCore pocket spring unit in nine zones on a high-density base.

Origin says each LumbarCloud takes approximately 50 hours to make. The same page also shows a spec table copied from the Hybrid Pro and a US size chart; we have used the LumbarCloud’s own layer list.

Sizes and prices

UK size Dimensions (cm) Price Compared with the Origin Hybrid
Single 90 x 190 x 35 £797 £265
Small double 120 x 190 x 35 £1,130 £356
Double 135 x 190 x 35 £1,230 £410
King 150 x 200 x 35 £1,299 £440
Super king 180 x 200 x 35 £1,447 £531

Prices are Origin’s regular prices at the time of writing (September 2026). Origin bundles free items whose value it adds to a higher “total value” figure; that is not a previous selling price.

Support for backs and joints

The nine-zone core and reinforced centre third are the reason to pay the premium if you have sore hips, shoulders or a stiff lower back. The support underneath is medium-firm, which is the band with the best evidence: in a Lancet trial of 313 adults with chronic low-back pain (Kovacs et al., 2003), medium-firm mattresses beat firm ones on pain in bed and on rising after 90 days. Origin also labels the LumbarCloud chiropractor-approved; the page bases that on feedback from individual chiropractors it names, not on an endorsement from a professional body.

Temperature

Origin calls the LumbarCloud its coolest mattress, citing the CoolWeave cover, kapok fibres and gel-infused latex. Those are Origin’s own claims. Above the springs sit a wool and cashmere pillow top, two more wool layers and memory foam, so there is far more padding between you and the spring core than on the Hybrid Pro. If you sleep hot, use the 200-night trial to judge it through a warm spell.

Trial, warranty and delivery

The 200-night trial, 15-year warranty and free next-day UK mainland delivery match the rest of Origin’s range, and Origin says returned mattresses go to local charities. At 35cm, check that your fitted sheets have deep enough pockets before the mattress arrives.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The LumbarCloud suits side sleepers and people with sore hips or shoulders who want a hotel-style pillow top over nine zones of support, and the 35cm build backs up the price. If the budget matters more than the pillow top, the Hybrid Pro gives you seven zones and a micro-spring layer for far less money.”
