The Origin Hybrid Clearance is the earlier, fixed-cover version of the Origin Hybrid, a 26cm, six-layer hybrid with up to 3,000 steel pocket springs in five zones, and at the time of writing (September 2026) it was the cheapest mattress Origin sold, at £388 for a double. Origin rates the feel between 6 and 7 out of 10, depending on your weight, on its Hybrid Clearance product page.

How it differs from the current Hybrid

Origin says its Clearance stock uses “the previous mattress cover design without the removable top layer”. The current Origin Hybrid adds a HexAdapt pillow top that zips off for washing at 40°C, while the Clearance version keeps a fixed SnowTencel cover over the same named comfort and spring layers.

Feature Hybrid Clearance Hybrid (current)
Top SnowTencel cover, fixed HexAdapt pillow top in SnowTencel, zips off
Depth 26cm 26cm
Comfort layers HexaGrid, IceCool foam, bamboo-infused wool The same, under the zip-off top
Springs Up to 3,000 ErgoCoil steel springs, 5 zones Up to 3,000 ErgoCoil steel springs, 5 zones
Free gifts (Autumn Sale to 5 October 2026) None 1 AirSoft Microfibre pillow
Double 135x190 £388 £410
Super king 180x200 £503 £531

Prices at the time of writing (September 2026), when all five UK sizes could be ordered and the Clearance version cost about 5% less than the current Hybrid in each of them. Origin lists net weights from 21.8kg for the single to 46kg for the super king.

What independent reviewers found

The fixed-cover Origin Hybrid is the version Jo Plumridge reviewed for TechRadar and Tom’s Guide, and both reviews point out that its cover cannot be removed. She rated the mattress a firm 8 out of 10 against Origin’s 6.5, and in the TechRadar review a 20kg weight sank 2.8in (about 7cm) into the centre and 3.9in (about 10cm) at the edge. Her back and stomach sleepers found it supportive and her heavier tester was comfortable in every position, but she found it too firm for side sleeping. Both reviews add that the single supports a body weight of around 15 stone.

Who it suits

Buy it if you sleep on your back or front, like a firm surface and want the lowest price in Origin’s range. If back pain is the reason you are buying, note that a Lancet trial of 313 adults with chronic low-back pain (Kovacs et al., 2003) found medium-firm mattresses gave better results than firm ones after 90 days, so the reviewers’ firm reading matters. Side sleepers and anyone who wants to wash the top layer should choose the current Origin Hybrid or the Hybrid Pro.

Trial, warranty and delivery

Clearance orders keep Origin’s 200-night trial with a full refund, the 15-year warranty and free next-day delivery to UK mainland addresses on orders placed before 9am. The free pillow offer on the current range excludes Clearance mattresses, and taking away your old mattress is a £54 add-on at checkout.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Hybrid Clearance is the fixed-cover Origin Hybrid that TechRadar and Tom's Guide rated a firm 8 out of 10, and at about 5% below the current Hybrid it was Origin's cheapest mattress in every size in September 2026. It suits back and stomach sleepers on a budget; side sleepers and anyone who wants a washable top layer should choose the current Hybrid or the Hybrid Pro.”
