„Choose the Eve model first, then check which shop sells it, because the same brand gives you a refund trial at evesleep.co.uk and only an exchange at Bensons.“
Two shops, two Eve ranges
Eve Sleep has not been an independent company since 17 October 2022, when Bensons for Beds bought its brand and intellectual property out of administration for £600,000, according to Retail Gazette. Bensons kept Eve’s own website running and added a separate, UK-made Eve line that only Bensons sells. An Eve mattress therefore comes from one of two shops, with different models and different terms. evesleep.co.uk sells the Original, Original Hybrid, Premium, Premium Hybrid and the two flippable Wunderflip hybrids, and Bensons also stocks the first four. The Hybrid Uno, Hybrid Duo, Hybrid Duo Plus, Pure Memory and Pure Memory Luxe are Bensons exclusives, and Bensons lists CertiPUR-certified memory foam in all three of its Eve hybrids.
Specifications from Eve and Bensons; regular double (135x190) prices checked on 28 September 2026. Spring counts are the makers’ figures, and the Hybrid Duo’s is for a king.
Trial, warranty and the clearance catch
The shop decides your safety net. Eve’s 200-night trial lets you send a mattress back for a refund, free within the first 40 nights and with a collection fee from night 41, and its warranty page gives new mattresses 10 years. The same page limits clearance and refurbished mattresses, both of which Eve sells, to a 1-year warranty. On 28 September 2026 Eve’s shop tagged the Original Hybrid, Premium and Premium Hybrid as clearance while their product pages still promised 10 years, so ask Eve to confirm the term in writing before you order one of them. Bensons works differently. Its 40 Night Comfort Guarantee exchanges, rather than refunds, a mattress you find uncomfortable after 5 to 40 nights, requires a mattress protector and carries charges. In return you can collect a rolled Eve hybrid from a Bensons store, and Bensons says it can be slept on two hours after unrolling.
Eve mattresses bought before October 2022
If you already own an Eve, the purchase date matters. Bensons bought the Eve brand and intellectual property out of administration, and InternetRetailing reported that customers who bought from Eve Sleep before 17 October 2022 must contact the administrators, Kroll, rather than the new owner. If you paid more than £100 by credit card, a Section 75 claim with the card provider is the other route.
Firmness and your back
Every mattress Eve sells direct is medium-firm, or medium and firm on the two sides of a Wunderflip, while the Bensons line runs from the soft Hybrid Duo Plus to a firm version of the Pure Memory. Medium-firm has evidence behind it. In a randomised, double-blind trial of 313 adults with chronic low back pain, published in The Lancet (Kovacs et al., 2003), the group given medium-firm mattresses (5.6 on the European H(s) scale, where 1 is the firmest) had better outcomes for pain in bed, pain on rising and disability after 90 days than the group given firm ones (2.3). For pain in bed the odds ratio was 2.36 in favour of medium-firm. Eve’s warranty adds a condition for your bed frame. Slats more than 70mm apart void it, and Eve’s warranty page gives 70mm as the maximum gap the National Bed Federation recommends.
What independent testers found
Two UK publishers have reviewed current Eve models. Expert Reviews gave the Wunderflip Premium Hybrid five stars and a Best Buy in July 2024, and Trusted Reviews measured an 8cm dip when sitting on the edge of the Hybrid Duo and 14cm when standing on it, calling the mattress well priced but a touch soft at the edge. Buyers’ own ratings split the Bensons range: when we checked on 28 September 2026, Bensons shoppers rated the Hybrid Uno and Pure Memory 4.6 out of 5 (162 and 175 reviews) and the Hybrid Duo and Hybrid Duo Plus 4.3 (177 and 71 reviews).
Which Eve for which sleeper
To see how Eve compares with other brands, our best mattresses of 2026 ranks the wider UK market, and the Emma and Simba comparisons cover two other big bed-in-a-box names. Readers set on foam can start with our best memory foam mattresses, and because the Bensons guarantee requires a protector, our best mattress protectors are worth a look before delivery day.
