The Eve Original Mattress is a 24cm all-foam mattress with three foam layers, seven contour zones cut into its base and a medium-firm feel, sold by Eve Sleep in five UK sizes from a single at £599 to a super king. It is the lowest-priced mattress in Eve’s own shop and competes directly with the all-foam models from Emma and Simba.

What is inside the Eve Original

Eve describes four parts under the top panel. The order explains the feel, a springy layer first and the slow memory foam underneath it.

Layer What Eve uses What it does
Top cover Moisture-wicking knit panel Moves sweat away from the sleeping surface
Comfort layer evecomfort foam Springy, breathable top that keeps you from sinking straight in
Memory layer Memory foam Slow, pressure-relieving give under shoulders and hips
Base layer Denser base foam with seven contour zones Resists sagging and softens under the heavier parts of the body
Underside Anti-slip coating Keeps the mattress in place on the bed base

Firmness and who it suits

Eve rates the Original medium-firm with a lightly cushioned feel. The middle of the scale has evidence behind it. In a randomised trial of 313 adults with chronic low back pain published in The Lancet (Kovacs et al., 2003), the group given medium-firm mattresses (5.6 on the European H(s) scale, where 1 is the firmest) reported less pain in bed and less disability after 90 days than the group given firm ones (2.3). For back sleepers and side sleepers of average build, the Original fits that brief. If you weigh more or sleep on your front, the 24cm of foam has less deep support to offer than a sprung hybrid.

Sizes and regular prices

UK size Dimensions (cm) Regular price at Eve
Single 90 x 190 £599
Small double 120 x 190 £699
Double 135 x 190 £699
King 150 x 200 £799
Super king 180 x 200 £899

These are Eve’s regular prices. Eve discounts the Original often, and at the time of writing (September 2026) a 40% sale was running until 29 September, so compare the live price before you order. Eve’s own shop shows 4.6 out of 5 from 374 customer reviews.

Trial, warranty and delivery

The mattress arrives vacuum-packed with free doorstep delivery. The 200-night trial has a catch worth knowing, because returns are free only within the first 40 nights and after that Eve charges a collection fee up to night 200. The 10-year warranty covers materials, manufacture, splits and cracks. That outlasts the replacement point for most people, since Bed Advice UK, the consumer site of the National Bed Federation, says sleep experts recommend replacing a mattress every seven years.

The main drawback

The Original has no cooling technology beyond its wicking cover. Warm sleepers get more from the graphite foams in the Eve Premium or the spring core of a hybrid.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Eve Original suits back and side sleepers who want a medium-firm foam mattress with zoned support and a 200-night trial. It is not the pick for hot sleepers or heavier bodies, who get more from the Premium's graphite foams or a sprung hybrid.”
