The Eve Hybrid Uno Mattress is the cheapest Eve hybrid, a 23.5cm UK-made rolled mattress with 1,100 pocket springs under CertiPUR-certified memory foam and a medium comfort rating, sold only by Bensons for Beds from £349.99 for a single. It suits a guest room, a teenager’s bed or a lighter adult who wants springs rather than all foam.

How the three Bensons hybrids compare

The Uno uses a single layer of springs where the Duo models pair mini springs with full-height ones, and it is 4.5cm slimmer. With less padding over a single spring layer, expect less cushioning at the surface than on the Duo, even though Bensons gives both the same medium rating.

Materials and standards

A soft-touch stretch knit cover sits over the memory foam, the 1,100 pocket springs and a foam perimeter that supports the edges. The foam carries the CertiPUR mark, and under that scheme EUROPUR requires label holders’ foams to be retested every year by independent laboratories. Bensons says it is made in the UK in a BSI Kitemark accredited factory, needs no turning and has a sleep surface that is naturally fire-retardant without chemical treatment.

Who it suits, and who it does not

Medium is a sensible default. The best-known trial on the subject, Kovacs et al. in The Lancet (2003), followed 313 adults with chronic low back pain and found medium-firm mattresses beat firm ones on pain in bed and disability after 90 days. The Uno’s limit is depth rather than firmness. Heavier sleepers and side sleepers with broad shoulders will get more pressure relief from the 28cm Duo.

Bensons offers no refund trial, only a 40-night comfort guarantee that swaps the mattress once, between night 5 and night 40, for a charge of 10% of the original price plus re-delivery. Delivery to the room of your choice is £49 for one item over £100, or you can collect it rolled from a store. At its price, the Uno should comfortably reach the seven-to-eight-year average replacement cycle the National Bed Federation has reported for UK beds.
