“For most couples the Dream Team Gold range is the sweet spot at Dreams, deep enough to feel premium and priced well below Flaxby.”
Own labels or stocked brands
Dreams sells two kinds of mattress. Its own labels, made in the UK and sold nowhere else, run from Dreams Workshop at the budget end through Dream Team and Dream Team Gold to the Hyde & Sleep memory foam range, the TheraPur cooling range and the Flaxby collection, which Yorkshire bed maker Harrison Spinks makes by hand for Dreams. Next to them sit stocked brands such as Silentnight, Sealy, Sleepeezee and TEMPUR. Dreams calls itself the UK’s number one TEMPUR retailer, and our TEMPUR mattress comparison covers that range. Bensons for Beds, the other national bed chain, follows the same model with exclusives such as the graphene-foam iGel range; see our Bensons mattress comparison and iGel mattress reviews. The own labels are where Dreams prices hardest, which is why they fill most of this ranking; for brands Dreams does not sell, see our best mattresses of 2026.
Compare the springs in your size, not the model name
The number in a Dream Team name is not the count in every size. The Fowey 1000 has 858 pocket springs in a double and passes 1,000 only from king size up, while the Lynmouth 3000 lists 2,586 in a double once its micro springs are counted. For context, the National Bed Federation’s Bed Advice UK guide says pocket spring counts “typically vary from 600-800 up to 2,500”, and puts the usual minimum for an open coil unit at 325 coils in a 5ft king. A higher count made up of micro springs mostly changes how lively the surface feels, so read it alongside the comfort grade and the fillings.
Pick the comfort grade for how you sleep
Dreams grades its mattresses from soft to very firm. Side sleepers usually need a softer surface so the shoulder and hip can sink, back sleepers a medium to medium-firm one, and front sleepers firmer support that keeps the hips level. Firm is not automatically better for a bad back. In a 2003 trial of 313 adults with chronic low-back pain, Kovacs and colleagues found medium-firm mattresses beat firm ones on pain in bed, pain on rising and disability after 90 days, and concluded that “a mattress of medium firmness improves pain and disability among patients with chronic non-specific low-back pain” (The Lancet, 2003).
Natural fillings or foam
Flaxby mattresses contain no foam or glue, and Dreams says they have no flame-retardant chemical treatment. Every mattress sold in the UK still has to meet the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988, so natural fillings change what is inside rather than the safety standard. If you prefer foam, the Dreams Comfort is the all-foam pick and the only one here delivered rolled.
Judge the sale on the selling price, then the guarantee
On 4 October 2026 almost every Dream Team and Dreams Workshop mattress showed a crossed-out price roughly double its selling price, so the saving figure tells you little. Compare selling prices instead: a Fowey double at £399 against a Lynmouth double at £599 is the real choice. Then check the guarantee in the table. Every mattress Dreams sells, own label or not, also comes with its 100-night comfort guarantee, an exchange rather than a refund, and it only holds if you have used a mattress protector from the first night.
