Dream Team Fowey 1000 Pocket Memory Mattress reviewed

The Dream Team Fowey 1000 Pocket Memory Mattress is a 24cm medium-firm pocket sprung mattress with a layer of memory foam, handmade in the UK for Dreams and sold only in its stores and online. Its pocket spring count rises with the size, from 561 in a single to 1,225 in a super king.

Construction

Dreams rates the comfort grade as medium firm, which it describes as a supportive feel with a touch of softness; we put it at 6 out of 10. Medium firm is also the grade with the best clinical evidence for back pain. When Kovacs and colleagues randomised 313 adults with chronic low-back pain to firm or medium-firm mattresses for a 2003 trial in The Lancet, the medium-firm group had more than twice the odds of an improvement in pain while lying in bed after 90 days (odds ratio 2.36). The tufting holds the fillings in place, and because the mattress is single-sided you only rotate it: weekly for the first three months, then monthly.

Sizes, springs and prices

Those are the selling prices on the Dreams product page at the time of writing (September 2026). Dreams shows a higher crossed-out price next to each one, but it runs that comparison without an end date, so we treat the lower figure as the real price. Note that only the king reaches the 1000 in the name, with 1,015 springs; a double has 858.

What to know before you buy

The Fowey is delivered flat rather than rolled, weighs 23kg in a double, and Dreams says it is not suitable for adjustable electric beds. Delivery is free. The Dreams 100-night comfort guarantee is an exchange rather than a refund: between night 30 and night 100 you can swap the Fowey for another Dreams mattress, provided you have used a mattress protector, for a £95 collection and re-delivery charge. The Fowey has no dedicated cooling features. Memory foam moulds closely to the body, so if you tend to sleep hot, the Dreams TheraPur range, built around ActiGel foam, is the retailer’s own cooling line.

Dreams makes its own-brand mattresses through a manufacturing division that appears on the National Bed Federation member list. The federation says its members account for about 75% of UK bedding turnover, and every member is independently audited against the NBF Code of Practice, which includes compliance with the UK flammability regulations.
