The Panda Hybrid Bamboo Mattress is a 25cm, six-layer hybrid that puts bamboo-infused open-cell memory foam over up to 960 encapsulated pocket springs, and Panda London rates it medium-firm at 6.5 on its own scale. Construction

Layer What Panda uses Job
1. Cover Zip-off cover, 34% bamboo yarn surface over 66% recycled polyester Washable at up to 30°C
2. BioCell Foam Open-cell memory foam infused with bamboo Airflow and contouring
3. DualFlex Foam Orthopaedic-grade memory foam over high-resilience foam Pressure relief without bottoming out
4. Springs Up to 960 individually encapsulated pocket springs Support and motion isolation
5. Comfort base High-resilience memory foam Absorbs movement
6. Base Anti-slip layer, four handles Keeps it in place, eases rotating

The layer list and the care details come from the Panda product page. There is no zoning: the springs are the same across the bed, whereas the pricier Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Pro spreads its springs over seven zones.

Safety standards and certificates

Panda states the mattress complies with BS 7177, the British Standard for the resistance to ignition of mattresses, and that its foams are CertiPUR certified. CertiPUR foam is tested in independent laboratories for heavy metals, banned dyes and low VOC emissions, with annual control tests.

Panda quotes OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certificate SH025 177569, which OEKO-TEX’s Label Check lists as valid (checked 28 September 2026): a product class I certificate, the strictest of the four classes, held by the textile maker Nantong Fengsheng Textile Co. in Jiangsu, China, for knitted bamboo-viscose pillow and mattress topper fabrics. The scope names pillows and toppers rather than mattresses, so read it as covering the bamboo textiles Panda buys in rather than the finished mattress.

Feel, temperature and who it suits

Panda describes the feel as medium-firm and elsewhere as “medium firm to firm”, a shade softer than the Pro, which it rates at 7. Back sleepers, couples and most combination sleepers should find that level supportive. Lighter side sleepers who like deep shoulder sink may find it firm, and there is no zoning to soften the shoulder area. Heat is what the design targets: open-cell foam, a bamboo cover and a spring core all let air move, which suits warm sleepers who find all-foam beds stuffy. Panda publishes no maximum user weight; the 25kg to 59kg on its page is the weight of the mattress itself, depending on size.

Standard UK delivery takes 3 to 7 working days, by two-person crew to the room of your choice. Panda will also collect your old mattress for recycling free of charge if you add the option at checkout, a service it does not offer in the Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland or the Isle of Man. If the mattress does not suit you within the 100 nights, Panda collects it free and refunds you.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“For a first hybrid with a genuine focus on airflow, the Hybrid Bamboo Mattress makes more sense than the Pro for most buyers, and the 100-night trial takes the risk out of the price. Back sleepers, couples and warm sleepers are its best fit. Lighter side sleepers who want deep shoulder sink should look at something softer, or at the zoned Pro.”
