Firmness: Medium softThe Hypnos Luxury No Turn 8 is a 28cm single-sided pocket sprung mattress with two natural latex layers and British wool.
The Hypnos Luxury No Turn 8 is a 28cm single-sided pocket sprung mattress with a double layer of natural latex over eight-turn ReActivePro springs, and it is the Hypnos to look at if you want deep springs without the seasonal flip. A double costs £1,829 at Bed Factory Direct (September 2026), which sells it in the medium tension.
According to the Hypnos specification, the springs have Triple Edge Protection, three rows of higher-tension springs around the border, and sit under an eOlus pad made from recycled plastic bottles. Above them are two layers of natural latex, a Solotex cushioning layer and British wool certified to the Responsible Wool Standard, the Textile Exchange standard that audits wool farms on animal welfare and land management. Two rows of hand side-stitching hold the border, and the sleep surface is unbleached cotton free from flame-retardant chemicals. Hypnos offers medium, firmer and extra firm tensions, which it describes as feeling medium soft, medium and firm.

We score the medium tension at 4 out of 10 for firmness. Bed Factory Direct recommends it for back and side sleepers, and the latex gives the surface a quick, springy recovery that makes changing position easy. The research points to the middle of the firmness scale rather than either extreme. A systematic review of 24 studies in Sleep Health (Radwan et al., 2015) concluded that a mattress rated medium-firm and custom-inflated (self-adjusted) was optimal for sleep comfort, quality and spinal alignment. The medium tension sits just below medium-firm, so front sleepers and heavier sleepers who want a flatter feel should ask a stockist for the firmer or extra firm tension.
The no-turn design is the point. Hypnos gives 34.6kg for a double and 40.5kg for a king, and because the comfort layers are on one side only you just rotate it head to foot. Compared with the turnable Wool Origins 6 you pay £150 to £240 more depending on size, and you swap eight fleeces of wool for two layers of latex. Hypnos also warns that this mattress is not suitable for bedsteads whose slats are more than 7.5cm apart. Bed Factory Direct builds it to order with free delivery in four to six weeks, lists no sleep trial, and the 10-year Hypnos guarantee applies.

“The Luxury No Turn 8 is the Hypnos we would choose if you want eight-turn springs and natural fillings but not the seasonal flip, since you only rotate this 28cm mattress. Anyone who wants an all-wool feel, or sleeps on a slatted bed with gaps over 7.5cm, should look at the Wool Origins range instead.”Go to shop →
