The Origin Hybrid is a 26cm, six-layer hybrid with five-zone pocket springs under a zip-off pillow top, and at £265 for a single it is the cheapest mattress Origin sells in the UK. Origin rates the feel between 6 and 7 out of 10 depending on your weight, a medium-firm surface aimed at back sleepers and couples who want a spring mattress without paying hybrid-flagship prices.

Construction

The layers below are the ones Origin lists on its Origin Hybrid product page, using Origin’s own names.

Layer Material Job
1 HexAdapt pillow top in a SnowTencel cover Zips off, machine washable at 40°C
2 Bamboo-infused wool Cushioning and moisture wicking
3 HexaGrid polymer layer Open honeycomb comfort layer
4 Gel-infused IceCool foam Pressure relief
5 ErgoCoil pocket springs, 5 zones Support; up to 3,000 springs
6 DuraCore high-density foam base Foundation and D-2 edge support

Origin says its hybrid mattresses are crafted in the UK. The page still carries an older layer block that quotes 2,040+ springs; we use the current specification above.

Sizes, weights and prices

UK size Dimensions (cm) Net weight Price
Single 90 x 190 x 26 21.8kg £265
Small double 120 x 190 x 26 29.0kg £356
Double 135 x 190 x 26 31.4kg £410
King 150 x 200 x 26 37.2kg £440
Super king 180 x 200 x 26 46.0kg £531

Prices are Origin’s regular prices at the time of writing (September 2026). The crossed-out “total value” figure on Origin’s page adds the free pillows it bundles, so it is not a previous selling price.

Temperature

Origin builds the cooling into the comfort layers rather than adding a separate cooling panel. Bamboo-infused wool sits under the SnowTencel cover to wick moisture, the HexaGrid layer is an open honeycomb, and the IceCool foam is gel-infused. Below that, a pocket spring core leaves far more room for air to move than a solid foam block.

Feel and support

The five spring zones give a little more under the shoulders and hold the hips, which is why back sleepers and most side sleepers are well served. The 6 to 7 rating also lines up with the evidence: in a Lancet trial of 313 adults with chronic low-back pain (Kovacs et al., 2003), medium-firm mattresses beat firm ones for pain in bed and on rising after 90 days. Very light side sleepers may want the plusher Hybrid Pro.

Trial, warranty and delivery

Origin includes a 200-night trial with a full refund, a 15-year warranty and free next-day delivery to UK mainland addresses on orders placed before 9am. Taking away your old mattress is a £54 add-on at checkout.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Origin Hybrid gives you zoned pocket springs, a washable pillow top and a 15-year warranty for less than many all-foam mattresses. Back sleepers and couples on a budget get the most from it, while lighter side sleepers are better served by the plusher Hybrid Pro.”
