The Silentnight Comfort Breathe 1000 Pocket is a 24cm pocket-sprung mattress with 1000 Mirapocket springs under a breathable fibre comfort layer, sold in all five UK sizes from £309 for a single. Silentnight rates it medium/firm, and it is the entry point to the Comfort Breathe range, the one we would point most combination sleepers to when the budget stops short of the 1200.

How the Comfort Breathe 1000 is built

The Silentnight product page lists five components. The springs sit in individual pockets with a firmer zone in the centre, which is where most of your weight lands when you lie on your back.

Layer, top to bottom What Silentnight uses What it does
Sleep surface Hypoallergenic quilted fabric Soft top, suited to sensitive skin
Comfort layer Comfort Breathe fibres Airflow; Silentnight says 15 times more breathable than standard memory foam
Protective layer Pressure-dispersing pad Spreads load from the springs to extend the mattress life
Support 1000 Mirapocket pocket springs, firmer centre Zoned support under shoulders and hips
Case Durable border fabric Keeps the edges in shape

Firmness and back comfort

Medium-firm is the feel with the strongest evidence behind it for back comfort. In a randomised trial of 313 adults with chronic low back pain published in The Lancet, Kovacs et al. (2003) found that people given medium-firm mattresses had better outcomes after 90 days than those on firm ones, with an odds ratio of 2.36 for pain while lying in bed. We place the Comfort Breathe 1000 at 6 on our 10-point firmness scale, which fits that band.

Temperature is the other reason to pick it. Fibre fillings hold less heat than a solid memory foam layer, and heat matters for sleep quality: a review in the Journal of Physiological Anthropology (Okamoto-Mizuno and Mizuno, 2012) found that heat exposure increases wakefulness and cuts deep and REM sleep, and that normal sleep coincides with a bed climate of about 32 to 34°C.

Sizes, prices and terms

Every size is made to order, with delivery aimed within 14 days. Prices below are Silentnight’s regular prices, checked in September 2026.

UK size Dimensions (cm) Price at Silentnight
Single 90 x 190 £309
Small double 120 x 190 £399
Double 135 x 190 £399
King 150 x 200 £479
Super king 180 x 200 £589

Silentnight’s 60-night comfort exchange lets you swap for another Silentnight mattress after at least 28 nights; it is an exchange, not a refund, and it only covers orders placed on silentnight.co.uk. The guarantee runs for 5 years from purchase, and old-mattress removal costs £30 if booked with delivery.

The drawback is depth. At 24cm the 1000 is the slimmest of the three Comfort Breathe pocket models, and it has no mesh side border. If you run very hot, the Comfort Breathe 1200 adds that border and 200 more springs; if you are heavier or prefer a firm feel, the 28cm double-sided 1400 Ortho gives you more under you.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“Choose the Comfort Breathe 1000 if you want a medium-firm pocket spring mattress that sleeps cooler than memory foam without paying for the 1200's extra springs. Heavier sleepers and anyone who wants a refundable trial should look elsewhere, because the 24cm build and the exchange-only 60 nights are its limits.”
