Hypnos Wool Origins 6

Firmness: Medium softThe Hypnos Wool Origins 10 pairs ten-turn pocket springs with seven fleeces of British wool and a natural Talalay latex layer.
The Hypnos Wool Origins 10 is the top of the Wool Origins range, a 33cm double-sided mattress that combines ten-turn ReActivePro pocket springs, seven fleeces of British wool and a layer of natural Talalay latex. A double costs £2,329 at Bed Factory Direct in the firmer tension (September 2026), and at the time of writing the retailer lists the medium tension in a double for less, at £1,999.
Ten active turns per spring is the most in the Wool Origins range, and the Hypnos FAQ states that the more turns there are in a spring, the more responsive and supportive it will be. Triple Edge Protection reinforces the outer three rows on both faces. The latex is what sets the 10 apart from the 6 and 8. Hypnos describes it as a breathable Talalay layer infused with graphite, and latex recovers its shape quickly, so the mattress feels springier when you change position than wool alone. The wool comes from Red Tractor assured farms; Farming UK reported in 2020 that Hypnos buys it from selected assured farmers at a fair price, and that those farms are regularly audited for animal welfare and land management.
| Size | Dimensions (cm) | Price at Bed Factory Direct |
|---|---|---|
| Small single | 75x190 | £1,859 |
| Single | 90x190 | £1,859 |
| Small double | 120x190 | £2,329 |
| Double | 135x190 | £2,329 |
| King | 150x200 | £2,589 |
| Super king | 180x200 | £3,109 |
Hypnos rates the medium tension as medium soft and the firmer tension as medium, and we score the medium version at 4 out of 10. It suits couples and back or side sleepers who want a responsive, cushioned surface over very deep support. Front sleepers who like a firm, flat feel are better served by the Orthos Support range.
Two practical points decide whether it is worth the premium. First, weight: Hypnos gives 53.3kg for a double and 62.3kg for a king, the heaviest in the range, and it needs turning with the seasons to stay within the Hypnos guarantee terms, which also rule out slatted bases with gaps wider than 7.5cm. Second, value. The Wool Origins 6 has eight fleeces of the same wool and costs several hundred pounds less, so the 10 earns its price only if you specifically want the latex layer and the higher spring count.
Bed Factory Direct showed the double as available within two to three days when we checked, while other sizes are made to order. There is no sleep trial listed, and the guarantee runs for 10 years.

“Choose the Wool Origins 10 if you want the springiest, most responsive feel in the range and can live with a 62.3kg king that needs turning every season. If the latex layer is not the point for you, the Wool Origins 6 covers much of the same ground for considerably less.”Go to shop →
