The Dunelm Rolled Memory Foam 800 Pocket Sprung Hybrid Mattress is a 19cm single-sided mattress that combines 800 pocket springs with a memory foam comfort layer and a quilted top, delivered rolled. Dunelm grades it medium soft and recommends it for side sleepers on its product page, where it had 4 reviews averaging 3.8 stars at the time of writing (September 2026).

Construction

Part What Dunelm lists
Top Quilted polyester panel fabric
Comfort layer Memory foam and polyester fillings (thickness not stated)
Support 800 pocket springs, 100% steel
Border 100% polyester border fabric
Depth 19cm
Sides Single-sided, hypoallergenic
Guarantee 5 years

Dunelm gives one spring count, 800, for all six sizes and does not state how thick the memory foam is, so the table lists only what the page confirms. For context, the National Bed Federation’s Bed Advice guide says pocket spring counts typically run from 600-800 up to 2,500, which puts 800 at the entry level of pocket sprung construction. Each spring still moves on its own, and that cuts the roll-together and partner disturbance of an open coil unit.

Who it suits

A medium-soft pocket sprung mattress suits lighter side sleepers, whose shoulders and hips need to sink in, and couples who want less motion transfer than an open coil gives. It is less suited to heavier or front sleepers, who usually need a firmer surface to keep the spine level. We rate it 4 out of 10 on firmness, in line with Dunelm’s own grading, and with only four reviews so far there is little owner feedback on how it wears. The range starts at a small single, 75 x 190cm, a size often used for children’s and cabin beds.

Back and front sleepers who want a firmer, deeper sprung mattress from the same shop can look at the Fogarty Dreamy Comfort 1000, with 1,000 pocket springs in 25cm, graded medium and dual-sided, at a regular £215.20 in a double against £167.20 for the Rolled Memory Foam 800.

Care and returns

Dunelm asks you to unroll the mattress within one to two weeks of delivery and let it air in a well-ventilated room. Because it is single-sided it is rotated rather than flipped, and the Bed Advice care guide recommends rotating a one-sided mattress weekly for the first three months and monthly after that. There is no sleep trial, and Dunelm’s returns policy states that an unwrapped mattress cannot be returned unless it is faulty, so the decision has to be made before the wrapping comes off.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“We recommend the Rolled Memory Foam 800 to side sleepers and couples on a tight budget who want pocket springs rather than open coils, delivered in a box. Heavier sleepers and anyone who prefers a firm bed should look at a deeper, firmer pocket sprung mattress.”
