Firmness: Medium firm · 200-night sleep trialThe Emma Original Lite is the entry model of Emma's Original line: a 22 cm medium-firm hybrid with no memory foam.
The Emma Original Lite is the cheapest mattress in Emma’s Original line: a 22 cm hybrid with Airgocell and SupportBase foam over a three-zone pocket spring core, rated 4 out of 5 (medium firm) by Emma, from £199 in a UK single. It suits back sleepers and spare rooms; couples and light side sleepers get more from the Emma Original.
Emma’s Original Lite product page lists four layers inside the cover: a soft Airgocell foam, a SupportBase transition foam, three-zone pocket springs with a wraparound comfort foam edge, and a grip base. The step up to the Original adds a memory foam layer, two more spring zones and 3 cm of height. Prices below are Emma’s regular prices on 28 September 2026.

Without memory foam the Lite feels springier and less enveloping than the Original. We place it at 7 on our 1 to 10 scale, at the firm end of medium-firm, and side sleepers with broad shoulders may find the cushioning thin. Open-cell foam over springs traps less heat than a solid foam block, although there is no dedicated cooling layer.

The Lite is single-sided and works on slatted bases with gaps of no more than 7 cm. Emma recommends turning it 180° regularly, and Bed Advice UK, the consumer site of the National Bed Federation, suggests rotating a one-sided mattress weekly for the first three months and monthly after that. The same body advises replacing a mattress after about seven years, or more than 20,000 hours of use, which is where the Lite’s low price and 10-year guarantee look good value.

We tested the Emma Original at home, which looks the same as the Original Lite from the outside. Inside, the Lite has three spring zones and no memory foam, so we do not judge its feel from that test. Delivery carries over: the mattress arrives rolled in a box one person can carry, and needs a few hours to reach its full height.

“The Original Lite gets the basics right for very little money: zoned springs, a washable cover and Emma's full trial and guarantee. We recommend it for back sleepers, guest rooms and first flats rather than for couples or light side sleepers who want a softer hug.”Go to shop →
