Firmness: Medium firm · 200-night sleep trialThe Simba Hybrid Kids is a 16cm single hybrid with 970 Aerocoil springs, made for bunk and cabin beds from age 3.
The Simba Hybrid Kids is a 16cm single mattress for children aged 3 and over, with 970 titanium-alloy Aerocoil springs over foam, designed shallow enough for bunk and cabin beds. It is sold in the UK single size only, 90 x 190cm, at a regular £399, and Simba rates the feel medium-firm, which we place at 6 out of 10.
Five layers, as listed on Simba’s UK product page.

Depth is a safety specification here, not a comfort one. The European bunk bed standard EN 747 requires every bunk and high bed to show the maximum mattress thickness with a permanent line or label, because a mattress that is too deep cuts the height of the guard rail above it, as the furniture testing laboratory CATAS explains. The same standard requires a warning that the upper bed is not suitable for children under six. At 16cm the Hybrid Kids is shallower than any adult Simba mattress, but check the line on your own bed before you buy. Simba confirms the mattress is bunk-safe only in the UK single size and does not recommend bunk or cabin beds for children under 3.
Children who have moved out of a cot bed, up to teenagers, and any adult who ends up on the bed at story time. A child spends a large share of the day on it: the NHS notes that most children aged 3 to 5 need about 12 hours’ sleep. The washable cover is a practical advantage for that age group, and the 90 x 190cm size fits standard UK single bed frames. For children under 3, Simba sells a separate cot bed mattress, and there is no bunk-safe 90x200 continental single.
Ordered before 1pm, the Hybrid Kids is delivered free the next working day to most mainland UK postcodes. It carries a 10-year guarantee against manufacturing faults and a 200-night trial with free returns. All the foam is CertiPUR certified, which under the EUROPUR scheme means no mercury, lead or cadmium and low VOC emissions.

“The Hybrid Kids is a sound choice for a child aged 3 or over in a UK single, cabin or bunk bed, and its 16cm depth is the reason it fits under guard rails. Check the maximum mattress thickness marked on the bed first, and look elsewhere if you need a 90x200 continental single.”Go to shop →
