The iGel NanoTech 5000i Plushtop is a 37cm luxury mattress with 5,000 pocket springs in three layers, a plush top and 80mm of graphene-infused cooling foam, twice the depth of the flat-top iGel models. Like the rest of the range it is sold only by Bensons for Beds, where 230 customers rate it 4.5 out of 5 (October 2026).

How it is built

Bensons’ specification describes a triple-layer spring system that combines mini pocket springs with full-height pocket springs. On top come 80mm of iGel NanoTech graphene foam, iGel foam with gel crystals for pressure relief and a plushtop layer stitched to the main body, finished with AdvantEdge edge support and a quilted cover with TENCEL fibres. The plush top is what sets the feel: even the firm version has a cushioned surface.

Sizes and prices

Size Dimensions (cm) Price at Bensons

Small double 120x190 £1,899.99
Double 135x190 £1,899.99

Super king 180x200 £2,499.99

Who it suits

Medium and firm are the options. Side sleepers who want to feel held by the mattress get the most from it, as do warm sleepers who find a standard pocket spring mattress too hard but memory foam too hot. Front sleepers are the poor fit, because the plush top lets the hips sink. At 37cm it is one of the deepest mattresses Bensons sells, so check that your bed frame or divan leaves enough headboard showing and that your fitted sheets have deep pockets.

Is it worth the price?

Spread over its working life the cost looks less steep. The National Bed Federation recommends replacing a mattress every seven to eight years, by which point it will have clocked up around 20,000 hours of use, and the 5000i carries a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee. The comparison that matters is with the 6000i, which adds 1,000 springs and 5mm of foam for a noticeably higher regular price, so outside a sale the 5000i is the better buy of the two.

The drawbacks

There is no soft version and no refund trial: Bensons offers an exchange under its 40 Night Comfort Guarantee, with a charge. It also advises against electric blankets on any iGel mattress.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The 5000i Plushtop is for side sleepers who want maximum cushioning with strong cooling, and it delivers both on paper. It is expensive even on sale, so compare it closely with the 3000i, which offers most of the same technology for less.”
