The Simba Hybrid Mattress Topper is a 6.5cm, four-layer topper that puts up to 1,900 Aerocoil microsprings between a Simbatex foam comfort layer and a high-density foam base. It is the top model in Simba’s topper range, rated medium-firm (6 out of 10 on our scale), with a regular price from £299 for a single.

What is inside the Hybrid Topper?

Layer Material What it does
1. Cover Plush knitted cover Removes for washing at 40°C
2. Comfort Simbatex open-structure CertiPUR foam Cushioning with airflow
3. Springs Up to 1,900 20mm Aerocoil springs in polyester pockets Responsive support, push air upwards
4. Base High-resilience, high-density CertiPUR foam, slip-limiting base and elastic straps Stability and a secure fit

The build is listed on Simba’s UK product page. The headline depth is 6.5cm, although the size table rounds it to 7cm. Springs are the unusual part: most toppers are foam, feather or wool only. Simba says the springs are the size of a paperclip, so you feel responsiveness rather than coils.

Does it sleep cooler than memory foam?

That is its main pitch. Simba states that Simbatex has over five times the airflow of memory foam, based on Intertek tests from May 2025 that Simba cites, run against nine memory foams from the top three UK manufacturers, so the figure is a manufacturer claim rather than an independent result. The reason it matters is well documented: a review in the Journal of Physiological Anthropology (Okamoto-Mizuno and Mizuno, 2012) found that heat exposure in real sleeping conditions increases wakefulness and cuts slow-wave and REM sleep.

Who is it for?

Sleepers who want to make a firm or tired mattress feel more responsive, and guest rooms where the topper can be rolled away. It costs 20% more than the Hybrid Essential Topper in a single for 400 extra springs and a plusher cover. A topper cannot fix a sagging mattress, though, and it is heavier than a foam topper. It is sold in the five UK sizes only, from single to super king, so there is no option for a continental 140x200 or 160x200 mattress.

Size Dimensions (cm) Regular price
Single 90 x 190 £299
Small double 120 x 190 £349
Double 135 x 190 £349
King 150 x 200 £399
Super king 180 x 200 £499

Regular prices at the time of writing (September 2026). All Simba toppers are made in the UK, the foams are certified under the EUROPUR CertiPUR programme for foam without heavy metals and with low VOC emissions, and the topper comes with free next-day delivery if ordered by 1pm, a 200-night trial and a 10-year guarantee.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“Choose the Hybrid Topper if you want the most cushioned and responsive Simba topper and the 200-night trial reassures you on the price. If budget matters more, the Hybrid Essential Topper gives you the same spring-and-foam idea for about 17% less in a single.”
