The Harrison Spinks Bronze Ortho 3500 is a firm, turn-free pocket sprung mattress for back and front sleepers. It belongs to the brand’s Ortho collection, which Harrison Spinks says is built for people who prefer a firm sleep surface and helps reduce lower back arching. A single costs £779 at Now to Bed (October 2026), which makes it one of the cheapest ways into the brand’s main ranges.

Construction

The 3,500 springs combine the Cortec Quad Revolution pocket spring unit with a layer of HD 2,500 micro springs. The firm pocket springs carry the support, and the micro springs take the hard edge off the surface, so the bed feels firm rather than plank-like. Above them sit a British wool and viscose blend, a cotton, hemp and flax blend and a layer of homegrown hemp, all inside a cover woven in-house without FR chemical treatment.

What “ortho” means here

Ortho is a feel, not a medical grade. Bed Advice UK, the consumer site of the National Bed Federation, notes in its mattress buying FAQ that “Terms like ‘orthopaedic’ vary by brand and don’t follow any universal firmness standard.” On this mattress the word means a firm surface, which we place at 8 out of 10. That suits back and front sleepers and heavier sleepers who sink too far into a softer bed. Side sleepers usually need more give at the shoulder and are better served by the Clover or a seasonal turn model in a gentle tension.

Prices and care

Now to Bed charges £1,079 for a double and £1,469 for a super king, with delivery in four to seven weeks because every mattress is made to order. As a single-sided mattress it never needs flipping; the Harrison Spinks care guide asks for a weekly rotation in the first 12 weeks and a monthly one after that. The trade-offs are the firm feel itself and a simpler finish, with two rows of side stitching rather than the three or four of the dearer models.

Unser Urteil

Fazit
„The Bronze Ortho is the Harrison Spinks mattress we would choose for a back or front sleeper who wants a genuinely firm bed without giving up natural fillings. Side sleepers should skip it, because its firm surface leaves little room for shoulders and hips to sink in.“
