The Harrison Spinks Emerald 16500 is a two-sided seasonal turn mattress in the middle of the brand’s gemstone range, between the Ruby 12500 and the Sapphire 20000. Its 16,500 springs come in several layers: a Cortec Quad pocket spring core, Posturfil pocket springs and multiple layers of HD 2,000 and HD 2,500 micro springs. A double cost £1,999 at Now to Bed in October 2026.

Construction and fillings

The Harrison Spinks product page lists a British wool and viscose blend, a British wool, hemp and flax blend and a cotton, hemp and flax blend, under a cover the company weaves itself without flame-retardant chemical treatment. Three rows of hand side stitching hold the border. Harrison Spinks designs its micro springs as a replacement for foam, with up to 5,000 in each layer, and says more springs give more points of contact with the body. The Emerald has 2,750 more springs than the Caspian 13750.

Feel and who it suits

Retailers sell the Emerald in gentle, medium and firm tensions. We describe the medium version and place it at 5 on our 1 to 10 scale: supportive enough for back sleepers, with enough give for side sleepers who do not want to sink in deeply. Front sleepers should choose the firm tension. Unlike the Caspian, the Emerald has no ortho version, so anyone who wants a truly firm Harrison Spinks bed should look at the Ortho collection instead.

Temperature and upkeep

The seasonal turn design gives you a warmer wool side for winter and a cooler cotton side for summer. The trade-off is upkeep: the care guide asks for a turn twice a year after the first 12 weeks, and a hand-tufted, double-sided spring mattress is heavy, so it is a two-person job. Natural fillings settle during the first weeks, and Harrison Spinks treats some body impressions as normal.

Prices and where to buy

Harrison Spinks does not sell direct. Now to Bed makes the Emerald to order in four to seven weeks and quotes a 5-year guarantee followed by a further 5-year warranty. At the time of writing it charged the double price for a king. It also makes the Emerald as a zip-and-link king or super king, two mattresses joined together, so each half can be ordered in a different tension.

Unser Urteil

Fazit
„The Emerald is the sensible centre of the Harrison Spinks seasonal turn range: more spring layers than the Jade or Ruby without the price of the Sapphire. Buy it if you want a natural, breathable mattress and do not mind turning it twice a year.“
