The Dorma Natural 2000 Pocket Sprung Wool Mattress is a 27cm, hand-tufted, dual-sided mattress built around 2,000 pocket springs with British wool and cotton on both faces, sold only at Dunelm from £409 for a single to £709 for a super king at the time of writing (September 2026). Dunelm gives it a 20-year guarantee and sells it in soft, medium or firm tension at the same price.

Construction

Layer (top to middle, mirrored below) Material
1. Cover 100% viscose, hand-tufted and embroidered
2. Comfort layer British wool
3. Comfort layer Bonded cotton
4. Comfort layer British wool
5. Core 2,000 steel pocket springs

The layer order comes from the diagram on the Dunelm product page, which repeats the same fillings on the underside so the mattress can be flipped. There is no foam. Wool is there for moisture handling rather than softness: British Wool states that wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet, and releases it again as the air around it dries.

Sizes, weights and prices

Size Dimensions Packed weight Price
Single 90 x 190cm 21kg £409
Small double 120 x 190cm 28kg £459
Double 135 x 190cm 32kg £509
King 150 x 200cm 37kg £609
Super king 180 x 200cm 44kg £709

Regular Dunelm prices, checked on 28 September 2026; soft, medium and firm cost the same, although the soft tension was out of stock in every size on that date. Weights are Dunelm’s packaging figures.

Feel, upkeep and who it suits

Our rating assumes the medium tension, which we score 5 out of 10. Dunelm lists it for back sleepers. We would steer heavier and front sleepers to the firm tension and lighter side sleepers to the soft one, once it is back in stock. The trade-off for natural fillings is maintenance. Dunelm asks you to rotate and turn it every two weeks for the first three months, then every three months, and integrated side handles make that manageable, though a 32kg double is still a two-person job.

The 20-year guarantee also appears on Dunelm’s mattress guarantee list, where Dorma has the longest mattress term on the list, ahead of 15 years for Hotel and 10 for Fogarty. That is well beyond how long most people keep a mattress: in a National Bed Federation survey of recent bed buyers, 41% had replaced their old mattress within five years or less. The catch is the lack of a sleep trial. Dunelm’s returns policy says mattresses cannot be returned once unwrapped unless faulty, so try the tension in a Dunelm store if you can.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“We would pick the Natural 2000 for back sleepers and couples who want natural fillings and a 20-year guarantee at a mid-range price. It is not for anyone who wants a no-maintenance mattress, since it needs turning every two weeks for the first three months, and there is no sleep trial to fall back on.”
