The Nectar Premier Hybrid Mattress is Nectar’s flagship: a 28cm, eight-layer hybrid with a layer of micro-springs above the memory foam and a pocket spring core beneath it, rated 7 out of 10 for firmness. It is the firmest adult mattress Nectar sells and the only one with two spring layers, aimed at back sleepers, heavier sleepers and couples who want solid edges to sit on.

How the Premier Hybrid is built

Nectar’s Premier Hybrid product page lists eight layers, top to bottom:

  1. a soft cooling cover with 40% more cooling fibres than the Classic range;
  2. a breathable dynamic support foam;
  3. a layer of individually wrapped steel micro-springs;
  4. pressure-relieving memory foam;
  5. an engineered transition layer;
  6. encapsulated pocket springs with extra structure at the edges;
  7. a firmer foam foundation;
  8. a non-slip base.

Four of those layers are CertiPUR certified foam, and Nectar says on its home trial page that its mattresses are made in Derbyshire. Under the CertiPUR scheme run by EUROPUR, label holders’ foams are retested every year by independent laboratories.

Where it sits in the Nectar range

Nectar model Type Depth Layers Nectar firmness (out of 10) Single price
Classic Memory Foam All foam 25cm 5 6.5 £199
Premier Memory Foam All foam 28cm 6 6 £399
Classic Hybrid Foam and pocket springs 25cm 6 5 £299
Premier Hybrid Foam, micro-springs and pocket springs 28cm 8 7 £549

The firmness figures are Nectar’s own 1 to 10 ratings from its range comparison, not a laboratory measure. In the larger sizes the Premier Hybrid is no dearer than the all-foam Premier: both cost £749 in a king.

Support and heat

Two spring layers keep you lifted rather than sunk in, which suits back sleepers and heavier front sleepers. The research case for firm-but-not-hard support is strong: a Lancet trial of 313 adults with chronic low-back pain (Kovacs et al., 2003) found medium-firm mattresses beat firm ones on pain in bed and on rising after 90 days. Note that Nectar’s 7 out of 10 is its own scale, not the European firmness scale used in that trial. The springs add bounce and airflow, and the cover carries 40% more cooling fibres than the Classic range.

Sizes, weights and prices

UK size Dimensions (cm) Weight Price
Single 90 x 190 x 28 25.3kg £549
Double 135 x 190 x 28 38.3kg £699
King 150 x 200 x 28 44.4kg £749
Super king 180 x 200 x 28 53.9kg £849

Prices are Nectar’s regular prices at the time of writing (September 2026). There is no small double, and at 53.9kg the super king needs two people to carry upstairs. The 365-night trial, free named-day delivery and the Forever Warranty come as standard; Nectar publishes no maximum user weight.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Premier Hybrid is the Nectar we would pick for back sleepers and heavier sleepers, because two spring layers, a 7 out of 10 feel and reinforced edges make it the most supportive model in the range. Light side sleepers who want a deeper hug should choose the Premier Memory Foam instead.”
