Aspire 3000 Pocket Wool Cashmere and Silk reviewed

The Aspire 3000 Pocket Wool Cashmere and Silk is a hand-tufted pocket sprung mattress with natural fibre fillings, priced at £649 for a 4ft6 double. It suits back and side sleepers who want the feel of an old-school British mattress, firm springs under a layer of natural fibre, rather than foam.

Two tiers of springs

The 3,000 springs in the name come in two layers. A base of 1,000 nested 18cm pocket springs with a framed edge carries your weight, and 2,000 micro tablet springs on top of it respond to shoulders and hips. Above the springs, Aspire’s product page and its cross-section diagram list the following.

Tufting, the ties stitched right through the mattress that you see as dimples on the surface, holds the fillings in place so they do not drift to the edges over time. Aspire rates the mattress medium-firm. Natural fibres breathe better than a foam top, although the wool and silk rule it out if you want a vegan mattress.

Sizes and prices

These were the prices on Aspire’s shop on 10 October 2026, with no reduction on any size. The 3000 Pocket Climate Cool Wool, the cooler version with a wool filling under a heat-dissipating fabric, costs exactly the same in every size.

Returns and guarantee

Aspire offers no sleep trial, and under its returns policy a mattress whose hygiene seal has been broken cannot be sent back because you dislike the feel. The 5-year guarantee covers manufacturing faults, but after the first year you contribute to any replacement on a sliding scale, so it is less generous than the headline figure suggests.
