The Ergoflex 5G is a 23 cm, five-layer memory foam mattress and the only mattress Ergoflex makes, sold direct from £369 for a single. It suits back sleepers and couples who want a close-contouring memory foam feel, and it comes with a 30-day home trial and a 10-year guarantee.

The five layers

Ergoflex’s product page lists the build from the top down.

Layer Depth Material and purpose
Outer cover n/a Woven TENCEL, removable, machine washable at 30°C
Inner cover n/a Micro-fine fabric that encases the whole core
Comfort layer 9 cm High-density visco-elastic memory foam
Airflow layer 5 cm Cool-Sleep foam designed to move air through the core
Base 9 cm High-resilience, impact-resistant support foam

Ergoflex makes much of foam density in its FAQ, calling the 5G’s memory foam the highest density in its price range, but it does not publish the figure in kg per cubic metre, so the claim cannot be compared with rivals.

Prices by size

Size Dimensions (cm) Price
Single 90 x 190 £369
Double 135 x 190 £528
European double 140 x 200 £537
King 150 x 200 £629
European king 160 x 200 £648
Super king 180 x 200 £747

These are Ergoflex’s prices at the time of writing (September 2026). The higher figures shown beside them on Ergoflex’s page are the prices of the TEMPUR 22 cm, which Ergoflex uses as its comparison, not a former Ergoflex price.

Firmness and who it suits

Ergoflex gives no firmness grade. Nine centimetres of dense memory foam over a resilient base gives a slow, body-hugging sink with firm support underneath, so we place it at medium-firm, 6 out of 10. That is the band a Lancet trial of 313 adults with chronic low-back pain (Kovacs et al., 2003) found worked better than a firm mattress for pain in bed and on rising. Dense foam also absorbs movement, which suits couples. Ergoflex recommends the 5G for sleepers up to 18 stone (about 114 kg) each, or 30 stone combined.

Certification, trial and delivery

Ergoflex states that the 5G meets UK fire standards BS 5852 and BS 7177 and is certified to CertiPUR and OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Under CertiPUR, run by the European foam association EUROPUR, the foams of label holders are tested every year by independent laboratories.

The 30-day home trial is short by bed-in-a-box standards. Ergoflex’s delivery and returns page asks you to try the mattress for at least 21 days, then to tell Ergoflex within 30 days of purchase if you want to send it back; it collects the mattress free and refunds you. The trial is limited to one return per household and is not offered in Northern Ireland, northern Scotland, the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight or the Isle of Man. The 10-year guarantee needs registering within 30 days. Delivery is free, usually next day.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Ergoflex 5G is a sound choice if you share the bed and want a dense memory foam mattress with a washable TENCEL cover from a brand that has sold online since 2006. The 30-day trial is short and there is only one feel, so it is less forgiving if you are unsure about memory foam.”
