The Sleepeezee Ultimate Ortho 2000 Pocket Mattress is a firm, 25.5 cm single-sided mattress that puts a wool and cashmere comfort layer over 2,000 traditional pocket springs. It is sold by Mattress Online, made in the UK with a 10-year guarantee, and costs £605 in a single and £835 in a double at the time of writing (September 2026).

What is inside

Twice the springs of the Sleepeezee Deluxe 1000 is the main upgrade, and the finer spring count lets the unit follow the body more closely while each spring still works independently, which limits partner disturbance. Above the springs sits a layer of high-density white fibres, then a wool and cashmere blend under a tufted knitted cover. Wool is the filling that sets this model apart from the all-fibre Deluxe. The Campaign for Wool, launched in 2010 under the patronage of the then Prince of Wales, promotes it as a natural, renewable and biodegradable fibre. Mattress Online credits the wool and cashmere blend with moisture-wicking, which suits people who run warm under a synthetic top.

Firmness: who the Ultimate Ortho 2000 is for

Mattress Online rates the Ultimate Ortho 2000 as firm and lists orthopaedic and lower-back support among its features; we place it at 8 out of 10. Back and stomach sleepers and heavier people who dislike sinking in are the natural audience. Buyers choosing it because of back pain should know what the best evidence says. A randomised, double-blind trial of 313 adults with chronic low back pain, published in The Lancet by Kovacs and colleagues in 2003, found that a medium-firm mattress improved pain in bed, pain on rising and disability after 90 days more than a firm one. For that reader the medium-firm Sleepeezee Natural 2000 Pocket Latex Ortho is the closer match to the trial.

Sizes and prices

UK size Dimensions (cm) Regular price
Single 90 x 190 £605
Double 135 x 190 £835
King 150 x 200 £965
Super king 180 x 200 £1,155

There is no small double, which rules the Ultimate Ortho 2000 out for 4 ft frames. It is single-sided, so care is a head-to-toe rotation every week for the first three months and monthly after that. Sleepeezee is an approved member of the National Bed Federation, whose Code of Practice has member factories audited by SATRA across ten areas including flammability and trade descriptions, and the mattress conforms to BS 7177 for domestic use. The weak points are the trial and the feel for side sleepers. Mattress Online’s 100-night Comfort Trial is an exchange rather than a refund, needs a protector bought from the retailer and asks for 30 nights first, and a firm, fibre-backed top leaves little give for shoulders and hips.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“We recommend the Ultimate Ortho 2000 to back and stomach sleepers who want a firm, wool-topped mattress with twice the 1,000 springs of the Deluxe. If you sleep on your side or bought "ortho" for chronic back pain, the medium-firm Natural 2000 is the safer choice.”
