Sleepeezee Centurial 01 4500 Pocket Mattress reviewed

The Sleepeezee Centurial 01 4500 Pocket Mattress is a medium, 26 cm single-sided mattress from Sleepeezee’s centenary collection, with 4,500 pocketed springs under British wool and alpaca wool. Sleepeezee sells it only through retail partners, and Mattress Online lists it at £1,499 for a double and £1,699 for a king at the time of writing (September 2026), with a 10-year guarantee.

How the Centurial 01 is built

The Centurial range marks Sleepeezee’s hundred years of bed making in Rochester, and the 01 is the entry model of the collection. The Sleepeezee product page lists hand side stitching for edge-to-edge support and describes the collection as 100% glue free. Mattress Online’s cut-away shows the order of the layers.

Firmness and who it suits

Mattress Online sells the Centurial 01 in a medium tension, which we place at 5 out of 10; Sleepeezee also lists a firm tension, which Mattress Online does not stock. If back pain is the reason you are shopping, the best trial evidence leans away from the firm version. In a randomised, double-blind trial of 313 adults published in The Lancet (Kovacs et al., 2003), people with chronic low-back pain given medium-firm mattresses reported less pain in bed and less disability after 90 days than those given firm ones. Side and back sleepers get the most from the wool and mini-spring top. Natural fillings also breathe better than foam, which matters if your bedroom runs warmer than the 16 to 18°C that The Sleep Charity recommends.

Sizes, prices and weight

All five sizes were in stock at Mattress Online when we checked, with a lead time of two to four weeks. Sleepeezee also makes a Super King Zip and Link version, which Mattress Online does not list. The mattress has handles and is never flipped; Mattress Online asks for a head-to-toe rotation every week for the first three months, then monthly.

The weak point is how little owner feedback exists. Mattress Online shows three reviews averaging 4.3 out of 5, and one king-size owner reported that the wool compacted into hollows. Sleepeezee’s FAQ says a settled body impression in the upholstery is normal and not a fault, so follow the rotation routine from the first week. The 100-night Comfort Trial is an exchange rather than a refund and needs a protector bought from Mattress Online.
