The Premier Inn Mattress 2.0 is the mattress fitted in Premier Inn hotel rooms, and the chain sells it to the public through its Premier Inn at Home shop. Silentnight makes it exclusively for Premier Inn and builds each one to order, so delivery takes a little longer than a stocked mattress.

Support comes from a 1000 zoned pocket spring unit with full perimeter edge support, so the edge holds when you sit on the side of the bed. Above the springs, a micro-quilted pillow top combines a gel-infused foam layer with polyester fibre layers that wick moisture and let air through. The mattress is 28.5 cm deep, which suits most fitted sheets without going up a size.

Premier Inn rates it medium firm, and we place it at 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale. The brand says it suits back sleepers, combination sleepers and couples, and it is candid that very lightweight side sleepers, or anyone who wants a very soft or very firm bed, should look elsewhere. The fabric casing carries an anti-bed-bug treatment with permethrin as its active ingredient, which some buyers prefer to avoid.
