The Panda Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Topper is a 7.5cm topper with up to 2,100 reinforced micro-springs sandwiched between bamboo-infused memory foam and a denser orthopaedic-grade memory foam, which makes it a small hybrid mattress in its own right. It costs £249.95 for a UK single and £339.95 for a UK double at the time of writing (September 2026), with a 30-night trial and a 10-year guarantee.

Construction

Layer What Panda uses
Cover Zip-off bamboo cover, washable at up to 30°C, hang dry
Comfort layer BioCell Foam: open-cell memory foam infused with bamboo
Spring layer Up to 2,100 reinforced micro-springs of precision-wound steel
Support layer High-density, orthopaedic-grade memory foam
Border and base 3D mesh ventilated border, silicone anti-slip base, four adjustable corner straps

Those details are from the Panda product page, which gives the weight as 9kg to 17kg depending on size and the feel as medium-firm; we place it at 6 out of 10. Panda points out that the springs set it apart from most toppers. They compress under pressure and spring back, and Panda credits them with limiting motion transfer and letting air move through the topper. It also says the Hybrid Topper makes firm mattresses feel softer and soft mattresses feel firmer, a claim no all-foam topper can make.

Safety and certificates

Panda states the topper complies with BS 7177, the British Standard that covers mattress pads as well as mattresses, and that it is CertiPUR certified. Under CertiPUR, foam samples are tested in independent laboratories for heavy metals, carcinogenic and allergenic dyes and VOC emissions, and the label is renewed every three years with annual checks. Panda quotes OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certificate SH025 177569, which OEKO-TEX’s Label Check lists as valid (checked 28 September 2026): a product class I certificate, the strictest of the four classes, held by the textile maker Nantong Fengsheng Textile Co. in Jiangsu, China, for knitted bamboo-viscose pillow and mattress topper fabrics. That scope matches this topper’s bamboo cover.

Who it suits, and the drawbacks

The Hybrid Topper makes most sense on a mattress that feels flat and lifeless rather than simply hard, because the springs restore some bounce that a foam topper cannot. Back sleepers and couples benefit most; side sleepers get pressure relief from the top foam, and front sleepers may find 7.5cm of foam and springs more than they need. The drawbacks are weight, since a 17kg super king is a two-person job to fit, and the trial. Thirty nights, only on pandalondon.com, is short next to the 100 nights Panda gives its mattresses. Standard UK delivery is free on orders over £30 and takes 2 to 3 working days.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Hybrid Bamboo is the Panda topper to choose if your mattress feels dead rather than just hard, because its 2,100 micro-springs add lift that foam alone cannot. If you only need softening, the 5cm Panda Bamboo Mattress Topper does that job for far less.”
