Dormeo S Plus reviewed

The Dormeo S Plus is a 20cm memory foam mattress whose core you can reconfigure at home: flip it for a softer or firmer surface, rotate it to move the Octaspring section towards or away from your shoulders, and in doubles and larger set each half independently. The regular price is £499 for a UK double, and at the time of writing (28 September 2026) Dormeo was selling it at 20% off, £319 for a single and £399 for a double. Dormeo’s reviews average 4.5 out of 5 from 960 buyers.

How the configurable core works

The S Plus page on dormeo.co.uk describes an S-shaped core of Ecocell foam with a softer and a firmer side, plus a zoned Octaspring section. A 2cm layer of memory foam is built into the cover.

There is some research behind letting sleepers choose. A 2015 systematic review of 24 controlled trials in Sleep Health (Radwan et al.) concluded that a mattress rated medium-firm and adjusted by the sleeper was best for sleep comfort, quality and spinal alignment. The self-adjusted mattresses in that review were custom-inflated, so the S Plus’s flip-over foam core follows the same idea without being tested proof of it.

Who it suits

Couples are the obvious buyers. Bed Advice UK, the consumer site of the National Bed Federation, says half of sleep disturbance is caused by sharing a bed, and a mattress that is too soft for one partner and too hard for the other is part of that. We score the S Plus 5 out of 10 for firmness as delivered and list it as adjustable. The limit is the 2cm of memory foam: side sleepers who want deep cushioning will get more from the Octasmart Deluxe, and the Climalite Silver cover has to come off every time you change the setting.

Trial and warranty

The S Plus has Dormeo’s 200-night trial, and because it contains Octaspring technology a return is collected free. It sits in Dormeo’s memory range, so the memory mattress warranty applies: 15 years on the core and one year on the cover, in full for five years and then reduced by 10% a year, so after nine years you pay half the price of a replacement.
