The TEMPUR PRO Plus SmartCool is a 25cm memory foam mattress that sits between the 21cm PRO and the 30cm PRO Luxe, and TEMPUR describes it as its European bestselling model. The medium firm version covered here has 5cm of TEMPUR Advanced Material on top, 2cm more than the entry PRO, and a 135x190 double lists at £2,599 on TEMPUR’s UK shop.

The three PRO SmartCool depths compared

Model Depth Advanced Material Dynamic Support DuraBase Double weight Double list price
PRO SmartCool 21cm 3cm 5cm 13cm 32.6kg £2,299
PRO Plus SmartCool 25cm 5cm 5cm 15cm 39.9kg £2,599
PRO Luxe SmartCool 30cm 5cm 10cm 2 x 7.5cm 43.3kg £3,199

Layer depths and weights are for the medium firm build; soft, medium and firm use different recipes at the same price. The extra comfort foam is the reason to choose the Plus. Side sleepers and heavier sleepers sink further before the firmer foam takes over, which gives the shoulder and hip more room, and TEMPUR rates all its mattresses for approximately 150kg (23 stone) per side. Lighter back sleepers will notice less difference over the 21cm PRO, which can be the better buy for them. All four feels cost the same, and TEMPUR’s feel guide describes medium firm as giving extra ease of movement with conforming support, a fair summary of how the Dynamic Support layer changes the classic TEMPUR sink.

The SmartCool QuickRefresh cover feels cool on contact, and its top panel unzips for machine washing at up to 40°C, which is TEMPUR’s own care figure for PRO SmartCool QuickRefresh covers (the label stitched inside has the final word). The foam core still retains warmth, as all dense memory foam does, and TEMPUR asks owners not to use an electric blanket, which it says can damage the material and invalidate the guarantee.

According to TEMPUR’s country of origin and safety page, the TEMPUR material inside its mattresses is made in Denmark, and its UK mattresses meet the BS 7177 low-hazard and BS 5852 Crib V fire tests. A medium firm double weighs 39.9kg unboxed, so moving it is a job for two, although TEMPUR says its mattresses never need flipping.

Eleven UK sizes are sold, from a 75x200 small single at £1,849 to a 200x200 emperor at £3,999 at list price in September 2026, with regular offers on top. Delivery to mainland UK is free and quoted at 14 to 28 days, and direct orders carry the 100-night trial (60 nights minimum). The TEMPUR quality guarantee covers the foam for 10 years, including any visible dip deeper than 2cm in the TEMPUR material, while the cover has a separate 2-year term.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“For most buyers set on TEMPUR, the PRO Plus is the one to shortlist first. It adds 2cm of Advanced Material over the 21cm PRO without the jump in price to the Luxe, and it suits side sleepers and heavier sleepers best; very hot sleepers should look at a hybrid instead.”
