Aspire Alpaca Silk 3000 Pocket Pillowtop reviewed

The Aspire Alpaca Silk 3000 Pocket Pillowtop is a 32cm, hand-tufted mattress made in Aspire’s own UK factory, with a pillowtop filled with a blend of alpaca fleece, silk, lambswool and bamboo fibres over 1,000 full-size and 2,000 micro pocket springs. Aspire rates it medium-firm. At £990 for a 4ft6 double it sits in the brand’s luxury tier, well above the numbered 3000 range.

What you are paying extra for

Three things set it apart from Aspire’s cheaper 3000 models. First, the filling: a 10mm, 250gsm alpaca and silk blend layer rather than wool, cashmere and silk. Second, the finishing: four rows of side stitching and sewn-in edge support, which Aspire says keep the mattress true even when you sit right on the edge. Third, the depth, 32cm, which makes it noticeably taller than most mattresses and worth checking against your headboard. According to Aspire’s product page, the micro springs sit above a polycotton rebound layer over the main unit.

The break-in period

Aspire is upfront that natural fillings need settling. The mattress will feel considerably firmer for the first two weeks before it relaxes into its medium-firm feel. That matters because there is no sleep trial: if you dislike it on night three, that is the fillings, not the finished feel. Give it a fortnight and rotate it regularly. The National Bed Federation notes that hand side-stitching helps a traditional pocket mattress keep its shape for longer, which is the point of those four stitched rows.

Sizes and prices

Prices read on 15 October 2026, with no reduction shown. The super king, at £1,465.01, costs almost £300 more than the king. Delivery to the doorstep is free on the UK mainland.

Who it suits

Side sleepers and couples who want a deep, soft surface on a supportive pocket base get the most from it, and so does anyone who values natural fibres over foam. Front sleepers usually prefer something flatter than a 32cm pillowtop, and if the budget is the deciding factor, the gap to Aspire’s cheaper pillowtops is hard to justify on support alone, since the full-size spring count is the same 1,000.

Terms

The 5-year warranty is pro rata after the first year, with you paying from 20% to 70% of the current retail price for a replacement depending on age, as set out on Aspire’s guarantee page. Mattresses with a broken hygiene seal fall outside the 14-day cancellation right.
