The Aspire 5000 Pocket Climate Cool Wool Pillowtop is a hand-tufted mattress with a pillowtop, three layers of springs and a wool filling under Aspire’s Cool Blue fabric. It is the cooling twin of the 5000 Wool Cashmere and Silk Pillowtop, built on the same spring layout, and in a 4ft6 double it costs £470.

How it is put together

According to Aspire’s product page, there are 1,000 full-size pocket springs with a framed edge in the core, 2,000 micro springs above them and another 2,000 inside the pillowtop. The pillowtop is filled with wool rather than a cashmere and silk blend, and covered in a fabric Aspire markets as heat-dissipating. In the close-up photographs you can see the “temperature control” lettering woven into the panel.

The table sets it against the 3000 Climate Cool Pillowtop, the next model down in the same range.

Part 5000 Climate Cool Pillowtop 3000 Climate Cool Pillowtop
Full-size pocket springs 1,000, framed edge 1,000, framed edge
Micro springs 4,000 (pillowtop and main body) 2,000 (pillowtop only)
Comfort filling Wool Wool
Cover Cool Blue tufted panel fabric Cool Blue tufted panel fabric
4ft6 double £470 £430

The extra micro spring layer gives a softer progression from pillowtop to core, which side sleepers feel most at the hip and shoulder. The cooling cover and the wool deal with heat, and the open structure of a spring mattress lets air move through it far better than a solid foam block. Aspire rates the overall feel medium-firm.

Sizes and prices

Size Mattress size (cm) Aspire price
Small single (2ft6) 75 x 190 £300
Single (3ft) 90 x 190 £340
Small double (4ft) 120 x 190 £410
Double (4ft6) 135 x 190 £470
King (5ft) 150 x 200 £520
Super king (6ft) 180 x 200 £590

We read these prices on 15 October 2026. Each size shows a much higher struck price, £1,199 on the double, but an archived copy of Aspire’s pillowtop range shows the same reduced price in March 2026, so the figure above is effectively the regular price. It is £10 more than the cashmere version in a double and identical in every other size.

Who should skip it

Front sleepers usually do better on a flatter, firmer surface than a pillowtop gives, because the soft top lets the hips dip. And if you share the bed with someone who sleeps cold, the cooling fabric works against them; Aspire’s 5000 Climate Cool Dual Sided, with a cool side and a warmer side you can flip between, are a better compromise for that household.

Trial, returns and guarantee

Aspire gives no sleep trial. Under its returns policy, a mattress whose hygiene seal has been broken cannot be returned under the 14-day cancellation right unless it is faulty. The 5-year guarantee is pro rata after the first year, on the sliding scale set out on Aspire’s guarantee page. Rotate the mattress regularly: a pillowtop is single-sided and cannot be flipped. The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 allow a seller to exclude sealed goods that are unsuitable for return for hygiene reasons once they have been unsealed, which is the rule Aspire applies.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“A side sleeper who runs warm gets the most from this model: the deeper spring stack cushions hips and shoulders, and the cooling fabric and wool keep the surface fresher than foam. If heat is not an issue, the cashmere version is built on the same springs for £10 less in a double.”
