The Aspire 5000 Pocket Climate Cool Wool Dual Sided is a hand-tufted mattress with two different sleep surfaces: a summer side covered in Aspire’s Cool Blue fabric and a winter side in traditional woven damask, each over a wool layer and 2,000 micro springs. You turn it over when the seasons change. A 4ft6 double costs £799.

A cool side and a warm side

Most dual-sided mattresses are symmetric, so turning them only spreads the wear. This one gives you a reason to turn it. The summer face uses Cool Blue tufted panel fabric, which Aspire’s cross-section says is designed to improve heat dissipation and keep that side cooler in warm months. The winter face is the denser damask used across Aspire’s natural range. Both faces have wool beneath them, a fibre the National Bed Federation describes as breathable and naturally resilient.

Layer Summer side Winter side
Cover Cool Blue tufted panel fabric Woven damask
Natural filling Wool comfort layer Wool comfort layer
Fibre 800gsm high-loft, at least 70% recycled 800gsm high-loft, at least 70% recycled
Micro springs 2,000 2,000
Shared core 1,000 nested pocket springs with framed edge, between recycled felt pads

The core and spring count match Aspire’s 5000 Wool Cashmere and Silk Dual Sided, and the two cost the same in every size, so the choice is wool with a cooling face against a cashmere and silk blend on both faces. Aspire rates both medium-firm. The layout is on Aspire’s product page.

Prices read on 15 October 2026, with no reduction shown. Aspire quotes 10 to 15 working days for delivery of a flat mattress like this, because most are made to order, and delivery to the doorstep is free on the UK mainland. Aspire does not publish a depth. Turning the mattress twice a year to switch seasons also does the job of evening out wear on the fillings, which is the routine a natural-filled mattress needs anyway.

Who it suits

It suits a household where the bedroom swings between stuffy summers and cold winters, and a sleeper who already turns a mattress or does not mind doing so. Couples who disagree about temperature are better served by a single cooling face than by flipping, since you both sleep on the same side at any one time.

Terms

There is no trial. Aspire’s returns policy excludes mattresses with a broken hygiene seal from the 14-day cancellation right unless faulty, and the 5-year guarantee is pro rata after year one.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“Pick it if your bedroom runs hot in summer and cold in winter and you are willing to turn the mattress twice a year: the two different faces make the flip worthwhile. If temperature is not your issue, the cashmere and silk dual-sided model, with that blend on both faces, costs the same.”
