Silentnight Miracoil Pillow Top reviewed

The Silentnight Miracoil Pillow Top is a medium-firm mattress built on Silentnight’s zoned Miracoil spring system, with a memory comfort layer and a hand-tufted pillowtop, priced from £319 for a single. It is the only Silentnight mattress in our comparisons with a continuous coil rather than pocket springs.

Construction

The Silentnight product page lists five parts. Miracoil is a continuous spring unit with zoning built in, and Silentnight says it limits roll-together; it is still one connected unit, so it isolates movement less well than individually pocketed springs.

Feel and depth

The headline, the bullet points and the firmness block all say medium firm, and we score it 6 out of 10. That is the band a 2021 review of 39 studies in the Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (Caggiari et al.) linked with better comfort, sleep quality and spinal alignment. Depth is less clear: the page states 26cm in one place and 27cm in the dimension table, so allow for 27cm when buying sheets.

Sizes and prices

Prices are Silentnight’s regular prices, checked in September 2026. The dimension table mentions a small double, but the size selector does not sell one. Note the jump between sizes: the single costs far less than the double. Each size is made to order, delivered within about 14 days and covered by a 5-year guarantee. Order from silentnight.co.uk and the 60-night comfort exchange applies, so after 28 nights you can trade it for another Silentnight mattress. You cannot return it for a refund.

A spring mattress at this price will not last forever. The National Bed Federation recommends replacing a mattress every 7 to 8 years, by which time it has seen roughly 20,000 hours of use, and that is a fair horizon for the Miracoil Pillow Top too.

Who it suits

The Miracoil Pillow Top makes most sense as a single: for a guest room, a teenager’s bed or a first flat, you get a pillowtop and a memory comfort layer from £319, with Silentnight’s 5-year guarantee. In the larger sizes the price rises steeply and pocket-sprung models such as the Comfort Breathe 1000 become better value, especially for couples, because pocket springs move independently and pass on less movement than a continuous coil. The pillowtop is on one side only, so rotate it head to foot rather than flipping it.
