The Sealy Elevate Ultra Turing Plush is a 34cm soft-feel Posturepedic mattress that pairs Sealy’s AlignSupport coil unit with a MemorySense zone, a Geltex gel-infused layer and a deep layer of medium foam. It won Bed Product of the Year at the National Bed Federation’s 2022 Bed Industry Awards, and it is one of two plush-feel models in Sealy’s five-model Elevate Ultra collection, alongside the Saxby Luxury Plush.

Construction

The Turing Plush specification on sealy.co.uk lists AlignSupport coils, UniCased XT edge support with coil-inspired air channels and a BasePlank foundation. On top, a MemorySense ComfortCore sits in the centre third under the hips and lower back, followed by Geltex and a final layer of medium-feel foam under a quilted top. The cover uses SmarTex for moisture and ProShield against allergens, and four vertical handles help with rotating.

Some retailers still describe an earlier specification with InfiniLux foam and a double Geltex layer. We follow Sealy’s current page. Here is how the Turing compares with the other two Elevate models we cover, all taken from Sealy’s own product pages.

Who it suits

We rate the Turing Plush 4 out of 10 on firmness, noticeably softer than the Hawking Medium. Side sleepers and lighter adults get room for the shoulder and hip to settle. Heavier back and front sleepers should be careful, because a plush top under a lot of weight lets the hips drop. The research on spinal alignment points to the middle of the scale: a 2021 systematic review of 39 studies in the Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology concluded that medium-firm mattresses best support comfort, sleep quality and spinal alignment, which is firmer than the Turing.

The Elevate Ultra collection appears on the Allergy UK product listing for Sealy with its Seal of Approval, thanks to the ProShield ticking. At 34cm you will need extra-deep fitted sheets. The mattress is handmade in Britain, and Sealy’s 7-year Posturepedic guarantee is handled through the retailer, which also sets any sleep trial. The Sealy guarantee terms ask for a slatted base with slats about 10cm wide and gaps of no more than 7.5cm, and for the mattress to be rotated head to toe, never rolled or bent.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“We recommend the Turing Plush to side sleepers and lighter adults who want a soft, deep 34cm surface over proper coil support. Heavier front sleepers will sink too far and should choose the Hawking Medium instead.”
