The Sealy Elevate Blake Medium is a 31cm Posturepedic spring mattress with a quilted Euro top and a medium feel, and at the time of writing (September 2026) a double costs £1,645 at The Sleep Shop’s regular price. It is the medium model in Sealy’s Elevate collection, the entry point to the Posturepedic range, and it suits back sleepers and couples who want a bed that is neither soft nor firm.

How the Blake Medium is built

The Blake Medium specification on sealy.co.uk describes the layers below, from the Euro top down to the base of the spring unit. Sealy says every spring in the AlignSupport coil is twice tempered and that the mattress is built without glue, using TCPP-free foams.

Layer Specification What it changes
Top Quilted Euro top Extra cushioning at the surface
Comfort foam Sealy Foam with a ComfortCore zone in the centre third More pressure relief under the hips and lower back
Transition foams Sealy Medium Foam and Sealy Firm Foam Firms up the feel between the top and the springs
Support AlignSupport coil, twice tempered Conforms to your shape first, then supports
Edge and base UniCased edge with interlocking keys, BasePlank Wider usable surface, less roll-off at the edge
Cover SmarTex and ProShield Moisture management and an anti-allergen treatment

Sizes and prices

Sealy makes the Blake Medium in four UK sizes, all 31cm deep, and sells it only through retailers. The Sleep Shop lists all four, and in September 2026 its sale took 25% off every size.

UK size Dimensions (cm) Regular price at The Sleep Shop
Single 90 x 190 £1,369
Double 135 x 190 £1,645
King 150 x 200 £1,829
Super king 180 x 200 £2,379

In a double, the Blake costs less than the Elevate Ultra Hawking Medium at the same shop and more than the firm Elevate Blackwood at Mattress Online.

How firm is it, and who is it for?

Sealy describes the Blake as “not too firm and not too soft”, and we rate it 5 out of 10 for firmness. That suits back sleepers, couples with different preferences and people with low-back pain. A randomised trial of 313 adults published in The Lancet (Kovacs et al., 2003) found that medium-firm mattresses reduced chronic low-back pain and disability more than firm ones after 90 days. Lighter side sleepers may want a softer top, and heavier front sleepers a firmer model such as the Blackwood.

Allergy approval, trial and guarantee

Allergy UK gives its Seal of Approval to the Posturepedic Elevate collection, which includes the Blake, on the strength of its ProShield or Purotex ticking. Sealy guarantees Elevate mattresses for 7 years under its guarantee terms, with claims made through the retailer, and the same terms rule out rolling or bending the mattress, so it arrives flat. The Sleep Shop shows no sleep trial on the Blake, delivers free across the UK on orders over £300 and quoted a delivery window of one to three weeks when we checked. There is no gel or copper layer, so the Blake is not built as a cooling mattress.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Blake Medium is the medium-feel way into Sealy Posturepedic springs, a 31cm build with a quilted top that suits most back sleepers and many couples. Buy it where a trial is offered, because Sealy runs none and The Sleep Shop shows none on this model.”
