Myers Florence Comfort Latex 1600 reviewed

The Myers Florence Comfort Latex 1600 is a 31cm single-sided mattress with 1,600 individual pocket springs under a layer of gel-infused latex, and it is the top model in the Myers Comfort Collection. Myers, which described itself in 2019 as making beds in the UK since 1876, no longer runs its own shop, and Mr Mattress in the North East is one of the few UK retailers still listing the Florence.

Construction

The current seller does not say how thick the latex is. An archived MattressOnline listing from December 2019 gave it as 2cm, with the same 1,600 springs, 31cm depth and 5-year guarantee. If that still applies, the latex is a surface finish over a spring mattress rather than a latex mattress in the usual sense, and most of the feel comes from the springs.

The same 2019 listing described the Florence as the most luxurious model in the Comfort Collection, made in the UK, with a breathable knitted cover and built-in turning handles for the monthly rotation Myers recommends. Each pocket spring sits in its own fabric sleeve, which is what keeps one sleeper’s movement from travelling to the other side of the bed.

Feel and who it suits

Mr Mattress gives a medium tension guideline, which we record as 5 out of 10. The latex adds a springy, quick-responding surface, the pocket springs limit partner disturbance, and the firmer outer springs mean you can sit or lie near the edge without rolling off. It suits side and back sleepers and couples who want a traditional sprung mattress with a slightly more responsive top. As with any latex product, NHS advice on allergic rhinitis lists latex among common allergy triggers, so check with the retailer if that affects you.

Prices are Mr Mattress’s own selling prices at the time of writing (September 2026); its higher list price is a recommended retail price rather than a dated offer. Delivery is free, with 3 to 4 weeks to allow, and no sleep trial is stated. Because so few shops still carry the Florence, compare the specification with any seller before you buy.
