The IKEA Åfjäll is a 12 cm foam mattress with a removable cover you can wash at 60°C, priced at £99 for a Single and £129 for a Double. IKEA also sells it in the continental 80x200, 90x200 and 140x200 cm sizes that its day-beds, stackable beds and extendable beds take, and several of those sets ship with it. This review covers the medium firm version; IKEA also lists a firm version, and the 140x200 cm size is sold as firm.
According to the IKEA Åfjäll product page, two layers of polyurethane foam at 33 kg per cubic metre form the core, and the quilted cover adds a layer of wadding made from at least 70% recycled polyester. The cover zips off, divides into parts to fit a domestic washing machine and can be washed at up to 60°C, which none of IKEA’s pocket sprung or Bonnell-sprung mattresses offers. IKEA specifies a slatted bed base or a mattress base underneath.

At 12 cm it is thin for an adult’s everyday bed, so we would keep it for a day-bed, a stackable bed or a guest who stays a night or two. There is no King or Super king.
