The Hypnos Origins Supreme Comfort Layer is a 7cm quilted mattress topper of natural Talalay latex wrapped in British wool, one of three comfort layers Hypnos makes to sit on top of an existing mattress. Land of Beds sells it from £769 in a small single and £959 in a double (September 2026), with free UK delivery and a five-year guarantee.

On its comfort layers page, Hypnos describes the Supreme as Talalay latex wrapped in up to two fleeces, 4.2kg, of wool from British farms, inside the brand’s God of Sleep damask made with unbleached cotton and no fire-retardant chemicals. Land of Beds lists the same build with an eOlus recycled-fibre layer and a soft tension that it recommends for side sleepers. Talalay latex springs back to shape quickly, so the topper feels more buoyant than memory foam, and the wool around it helps body moisture evaporate.

How the three Hypnos comfort layers differ

Comfort layer Core Wool Casing
Origins Supreme Natural Talalay latex Up to 2 fleeces (4.2kg), British farms God of Sleep damask, unbleached cotton
Organic Comfort Layer Natural latex 3 fleeces of organic wool Quilted organic wool and cotton, secured with leather cord
Origins Deluxe No latex British wool from Red Tractor assured farms, encased in Solotex God of Sleep damask, unbleached cotton

Construction details are from Hypnos. The Supreme sits between the other two: it has latex like the Organic layer, with a little less wool around it, while the Deluxe is the one to pick if you want wool cushioning without any latex bounce.

Supreme Comfort Layer sizes, weights and prices

Size Dimensions (cm) Price at Land of Beds Weight
Small single 75x190 £769 6kg
Single 90x190 £769 8kg
Small double 120x190 £959 10kg
Double 135x190 £959 11kg
King 150x200 £1,129 13kg
Super king 180x200 £1,359 16kg

Weights and the 7cm depth are Land of Beds’ figures, and prices were checked in September 2026. Land of Beds shows a higher RRP beside each size but no end date for the difference, so we treat the selling price as the regular price. Other stockists charge more; The Bed Specialist was asking more than £800 for a single when we compared.

We score the feel at 3 out of 10. The Supreme is best used to soften a mattress that is supportive but too firm, for a side sleeper who feels pressure at the shoulder and hip. It will not rescue a sagging mattress, because a soft 7cm layer follows whatever dip lies beneath it. Hypnos says a comfort layer cushions the body and acts as a protector between the sleeper and the mattress core, and Land of Beds says this one prolongs the life of the mattress beneath it. Price is the main drawback, since a double costs more than many complete mattresses.

Land of Beds adds that the Supreme, like Hypnos mattresses, contains no foam, is recyclable at the end of its life and ships in recyclable sugar cane packaging. Hypnos appears on the National Bed Federation’s member list, and the NBF says all of its manufacturer members are audited and that its Code of Practice is about reassuring customers that what they buy from members is “safe, clean and honest”.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Origins Supreme is the layer to buy if a firm, supportive mattress leaves your shoulders and hips sore and you want natural latex and wool rather than foam. At 7cm and soft it cannot fix a sagging mattress, and in a double it costs more than many whole mattresses.”
