GhostBed Classic Foam reviewed

The GhostBed Classic Foam is a 28 cm all-foam mattress with a medium-firm feel, sold only through GhostBed’s UK shop from £499 for a single. GhostBed’s product page marks it as made in the UK and pairs it with a 101-night sleep trial and a 10-year guarantee.

What is inside

GhostBed describes three elements but publishes no layer depths or foam densities for the UK model:

• a smooth-top cover that GhostBed says is cool to the touch;
• a layer of its Ghost Bounce foam, which it describes as contouring without the stuck feeling of slow memory foam, and as breathable;
• ProCore zoned support foam underneath.

That is less detail than most UK rivals give, and GhostBed states no foam certification for the UK model. Under CertiPUR, the European foam scheme run by EUROPUR, label holders have their foams tested every year by independent laboratories; Ergoflex, for one, quotes CertiPUR for its 5G. If you want to compare layer by layer, this page will not let you.

Prices by size

GhostBed names the sizes Single, Double, King and Super King only; the SKU codes match the standard UK widths. The higher “Comp. Value” figures on the page are, in GhostBed’s words, the average of what you would pay for a comparable product elsewhere, not a former price of this mattress. Prices are as checked in September 2026.

Feel and who it suits

GhostBed places the Classic Foam at medium-firm on its five-step comfort scale, which runs from plush to firm; we record it as 6 out of 10. Medium-firm is the firmness that did best in a Lancet trial of 313 adults with chronic low-back pain (Kovacs et al., 2003), where it beat a firm mattress on pain in bed, pain on rising and disability after 90 days. GhostBed recommends the all-foam model for people who like a cradling feel and for couples, because foam isolates movement well. Its hybrid models add coils, a subtle bounce and reinforced edges, and GhostBed points combination sleepers who move around towards those instead.

Trial, guarantee and delivery

GhostBed’s returns and refund policy sets out the 101-night trial. It starts on the day the order ships, you must sleep on the mattress for at least 30 nights before asking for a return, it applies only to orders placed directly with GhostBed, and only one mattress per household can be returned. The policy page is shared with GhostBed’s US store and asks for a donation receipt before a refund is issued, so ask customer service how a UK return works before you rely on it. The guarantee runs for 10 years. Delivery is free by DPD, and the page says orders ship within 24 hours.
