Dormeo Octaspring Body Zone Mattress Topper reviewed

The Dormeo Octaspring Body Zone Mattress Topper is a 7cm medium topper that combines memory foam with Octaspring foam springs arranged in five body zones: three softer zones under the head and shoulders and the lower legs, and two firmer zones under the back and hips. It costs £249 for a UK double at the time of writing (September 2026), and it averages 4.3 out of 5 from 1,720 buyers on Dormeo’s site. When we checked, the double and king were in stock while the single and super king were sold out.

Five zones instead of three

The Body Zone page on dormeo.co.uk explains the layout. The Octasmart toppers use three zones; the Body Zone splits the length into five.

Dormeo names the three softer zones as head, shoulders and lower legs and the two firmer ones as back and hips; the table maps them from head to foot. It says the design encourages healthy spinal alignment and gives up to eight times the breathability of traditional memory foam, with mesh side panels to let warm air escape. Those are Dormeo’s claims.

Who it suits

We score the Body Zone 5 out of 10 for firmness, matching Dormeo’s medium rating. Firmer support under the hips is what back sleepers need to keep the lower back level, and medium-firm surfaces have the best evidence behind them: a 2021 systematic review of 39 studies (Caggiari et al.) found they promote comfort, sleep quality and spinal alignment. As with any topper, it will only work on a mattress that is still flat. Bed Advice UK, the consumer site of the National Bed Federation, warns in its topper guide that a topper on a mattress with deep dips will mould to those dips.

Give it time before deciding. Dormeo’s trial page recommends sleeping on a new topper for at least 30 nights, because it takes a while for your body to adjust and for the foam to settle, and the topper must be unpacked within 30 days of delivery to qualify for the trial.

The Body Zone has Dormeo’s 200-night trial. Its warranty is five years, shorter than the eight years on the Octasmart toppers, and Dormeo quotes free delivery in 7 to 10 days.
