Dormeo Octaspring Body Zone Cooling Mattress Topper reviewed

The Dormeo Octaspring Body Zone Cooling is a 7cm medium mattress topper that combines Octaspring foam springs and memory foam in five body zones under a Cool Touch cover. A UK double costs £349 at the time of writing (September 2026), and Dormeo gives it an 8-year warranty.

What the cooling version adds

The Body Zone Cooling page on dormeo.co.uk lists three cooling features: a Cool Touch cover woven with cooling fibres, breathable mesh side panels, and the open honeycomb structure of the Octaspring springs. Dormeo says the cover keeps you up to 40% cooler than a standard polyester mattress cover and that the Octaspring structure is up to 8x more breathable than traditional memory foam. Both figures are Dormeo’s own, and it does not name the test behind them.

Why heat matters for sleep

Keeping cool is more than comfort. A 2012 review in the Journal of Physiological Anthropology by Okamoto-Mizuno and Mizuno concludes that “in real-life situations where bedding and clothing are used, heat exposure increases wakefulness and decreases slow wave sleep and rapid eye movement sleep.” A topper cannot change the temperature of the room, but a cover and core that move warm air away from the body address the part the bed controls.

Zoning and feel

Dormeo rates the topper medium and says it suits front, back and side sleepers. Its five zones place three softer comfort zones under the lighter parts of the body and two firmer support zones under the heavier parts. At 7cm it clears the 5cm minimum that Bed Advice UK, the consumer site of the National Bed Federation, recommends for a topper to make a noticeable difference. Only 12 buyers had reviewed it on Dormeo’s site in September 2026, averaging 4.5 out of 5.

Trial and warranty

The topper comes with Dormeo’s 200-night trial, and Dormeo recommends at least 30 nights before deciding. Its trial terms say the buyer pays the return on selected mattresses and toppers, with Dormeo’s own courier charging £45, and promise free collection only for mattresses with Octaspring technology, so ask before you order if a free return matters to you. The 8-year warranty in Dormeo’s specification table is three years longer than the 5 years it lists for the standard Octaspring Body Zone.
