Dormeo Octaspring Body Zone Cooling Mattress Topper
7.9/10The Dormeo Octaspring Body Zone Cooling is a 7cm medium topper with five zones…
Firmness: Medium · 200-night sleep trialThe Dorma Hungarian Feather Dual pairs a 70% goose down top layer with a firmer goose feather base that buttons on underneath.
The Dorma Hungarian Feather Dual Mattress Topper is a two-layer feather bed: a top layer filled with 70% Hungarian goose down and 30% feather, buttoned onto a firmer base layer of goose feather. It is the most expensive Dorma topper we cover, from £170 for a single to £230 for a super king at the time of writing (September 2026), and it is built for softness rather than support.
| Layer | Shell | Filling | Care |
|---|---|---|---|
| Top layer | 100% cotton | 70% Hungarian goose down, 30% feather | Machine washable |
| Base layer | 100% cotton cambric | Goose feather | Spot clean only |
Those details come from the Dunelm product page. The layers attach with buttons and separate fully, which is what makes the top washable in a domestic machine. The whole topper fits mattresses up to 35cm deep. Dunelm does not state a depth, a fill weight or a guarantee for this model.
Down is the soft cluster from under the outer feathers, and it gives the loft; feathers have a quill and give body. European labelling standards use the down share to decide what a filling may be called. According to the IDFL testing institute’s guide to European labelling standards, a product needs 60% or more down before it can be advertised as a down product under EN 13186, so the 70% top layer clears that bar, while the all-feather base is there to stop you sinking through to the mattress.
| Size | Dunelm dimensions | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Single | 90 x 190cm | £170 |
| Double | 135 x 190cm | £205 |
| King | 150 x 200cm | £210 |
| Super king | 183 x 200cm | £230 |
Regular Dunelm prices, checked on 28 September 2026. There is no small double or emperor.
We rate it soft, 2 out of 10: the down-rich top gives a deep, hotel-style surface and the feather base adds body underneath. Side and back sleepers who want to sink into the bed are the natural fit. Front sleepers and anyone who needs firmer support for the lower back will find it too yielding. It is unsuitable for anyone allergic to feathers or avoiding animal products.
Feather and down flatten with use, so expect to shake both layers out when you change the sheets. The Dunelm product page names no responsible down standard for this topper, so if sourcing matters to you, ask Dunelm before you buy.
The base being spot clean only is the practical catch, and there is no sleep trial: under Dunelm’s returns policy, toppers are only refunded on a change of mind if returned unused and sealed.
“Buy it if you want a soft, hotel-style feather bed, with a 70% down top layer you can take off and machine wash. It is the wrong choice for front sleepers, anyone who reacts to feathers and anyone avoiding animal products.”Go to shop →
