The Brook + Wilde Elite is a 28 cm hybrid with 3,000 springs in two tiers, 1,000 encapsulated pocket springs under 2,000 mini pocket springs, topped by zoned foam and an open-cell comfort layer. Each one is made to order in Manchester and sold direct, in medium or firm at the same price, in Single, Double, King and Super king. This review covers the medium version.

Eight layers

The Brook + Wilde Elite product page lists eight layers, all sourced from UK suppliers. Compared with the entry-level Lux, the Elite adds a second tier of springs, an open-cell comfort layer, a non-slip base and a two-part cover whose sleeping surface zips off for washing.

Layer Brook + Wilde Elite Brook + Wilde Lux
Cover Two-part knitted, zip-off washable top Knitted, not washable
Extra comfort layer Open-cell foam None
Zoned foam Two S-Wave layers, firmer foot end Two S-Wave layers, firmer foot end
Springs 2,000 mini pocket + 1,000 pocket 1,000 pocket
Base ECO-TEX layer plus non-slip base ECO-TEX layer
Depth 28 cm 26 cm
Feels available Medium or firm Medium only
Largest size Super king King

Brook + Wilde says the open-cell structure of the extra comfort layer improves moisture evaporation and breathability, so the Elite should sleep cooler than the Lux, whose foam sits directly under the cover. ECO-TEX is the brand’s name for its own recycled base material, not the OEKO-TEX certification.

Feel and who it suits

The two spring tiers are the Elite’s reason to exist. The mini springs react to small movements near the surface while the 1,000-spring unit carries the load, which helps couples and people who change position during the night. The firm version, at the same price, is the better choice if you sleep on your front or carry more weight. Brook + Wilde sells medium and firm as standard and takes bespoke enquiries for a soft version. For most people a middle setting is the right starting point: a 2021 systematic review of 39 studies in the Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (Caggiari et al.) concluded that medium-firm mattresses promote comfort, sleep quality and spinal alignment.

Sizes, prices and terms

These are Brook + Wilde’s regular prices for the medium version at the time of writing (September 2026); the firm version costs the same.

UK size Dimensions (cm) Price
Single 90x190 £995
Double 135x190 £1,195
King 150x200 £1,295
Super king 180x200 £1,395

Because every Elite is handmade to order, delivery takes longer than a boxed mattress: Brook + Wilde quotes delivery within four to five weeks, by a two-person team. The 200 Night Comfort Trial allows an exchange for another comfort level or a full refund, provided you use a mattress protector. The core carries a 10-year guarantee, and the Brook + Wilde guarantee page sets a settlement tolerance of 2.5 cm in the first six months, rising to 4.5 cm at three to five years. That page also says the brand’s mattress covers are not cleanable, which conflicts with the Elite’s zip-off washable top, so check the care label before the first wash. The main drawback is price: a Single Elite costs £400 more than a Single Lux, and the Lux already has the same zoned foam and 1,000-spring unit.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Brook + Wilde Elite is the model we would recommend to couples, because its 2,000 mini springs sit over a 1,000-spring base and the sleep surface zips off for washing. Choose the firm version if you sleep on your front, and the cheaper Lux if you sleep alone and can live without the second spring tier.”
