The Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen Hotel Quality Wool 3000 Pocket Natural Mattress is made by Aspire in the UK under the designer’s name: a 28cm, hand-tufted mattress with 1,000 full-size pocket springs, 2,000 micro springs and wool blended with cashmere and silk. Aspire rates it medium-firm. A 4ft6 double costs £522.99 on Aspire’s shop.

What sets it apart from Aspire’s own 3000 models

Underneath the label, the spring layout is the one Aspire uses across its 3000 range: a 1,000-spring core with a layer of 2,000 micro springs above it. The differences are in the finish and the depth. This mattress is 28cm deep, has a side-stitched border and flag-stitched transport handles, and Aspire describes it as suitable for heavier individuals thanks to its perimeter edge support. The build follows the cross-section on Aspire’s product page.

Layer, top to bottom What Aspire uses
Sleep surface Woven damask, hand tufted
Natural filling Wool blended with cashmere and silk (250gsm cashmere blend layer)
Comfort fibre 800gsm high-loft recycled polyester
Micro springs 2,000 micro tablet pocket springs
Main unit 1,000 full-size pocket springs between recycled felt pads
Base 800gsm fibre and woven damask

Side stitching is more than decoration: the National Bed Federation notes that hand side-stitched panels help a traditional pocket mattress keep its shape for longer. Tufting holds the natural fillings in place, so they do not migrate to the edges over time.

Sizes and prices

Size Mattress size (cm) Aspire price
Small single (2ft6) 75 x 190 £349.99
Single (3ft) 90 x 190 £388.99
Small double (4ft) 120 x 190 £476.99
Double (4ft6) 135 x 190 £522.99
King (5ft) 150 x 200 £579.99
Super king (6ft) 180 x 200 £879.99

Prices read on 15 October 2026, with no reduction shown. The super king costs £300 more than the king, a larger jump than between any other two sizes. Compare it with Aspire’s own 3000 Pocket Wool Cashmere and Silk before you decide: the spring count and fillings are close, and the price difference is mostly the deeper build and the name.

Who it suits

Back sleepers and heavier sleepers get the most out of a medium-firm, deeply filled pocket mattress like this, and couples benefit from the pocketed springs keeping movement to one side. Side sleepers who like a soft top may prefer a pillowtop. Aspire’s description also claims it improves posture and relieves back pain; no mattress can promise that, so buy it for its build rather than for health claims.

Terms

The 5-year warranty is pro rata after the first year, on the sliding scale set out on Aspire’s guarantee page. There is no sleep trial, and a mattress with a broken hygiene seal is excluded from the 14-day cancellation right unless it is faulty.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“Choose it if you want a deep, traditionally finished natural mattress and like the Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen styling; the build is genuinely heavier-duty than Aspire's flat 3000. If the label means nothing to you, Aspire's own 3000 pillowtops give similar springs and fillings for less.”
