The Relyon Natural Luxury Supreme 2150 Pillow Top is a 34cm no-turn pocket sprung mattress topped with a pillow layer of pure wool and silk. Relyon makes it for MattressNextDay, the only UK shop selling it, and at 34cm it is the deepest Relyon we review.

How it is built

MattressNextDay’s listing gives 2,150 individually pocketed springs in a king size, cotton in the comfort layers and a pillow top filled with wool and silk, held in place with hand-worked wool tufts. Relyon’s Edge+ reinforcement runs round the border, so the outer strip keeps its shape when you sit on the side of the bed. The sleep surface is a Belgian damask with viscose, and the mattress meets BS 7177, the British standard for the ignition resistance of mattresses, at the low-hazard level for homes.

Feel and temperature

MattressNextDay rates it medium, and the build backs that up. The pillow top gives the shoulder and hip somewhere to settle, while the springs below keep the spine in line. There is a lot of filling in a mattress this deep, which is why the choice of wool, silk and cotton matters. All three absorb and release moisture, so the bed stays drier and cooler than one built from thick foam.

Expect the pillow top to show body impressions within a few months. The National Bed Federation notes that settlement in generous natural fillings shows the mattress is working, not failing, and that natural fibres recover better than synthetic fibre pads.

Compared with the Luxury Silk 2850

The other Relyon pillow top on our site is the Luxury Silk 2850, which hides mini pocket springs inside its pillow top and uses cashmere and silk. It costs £909 for a double against £819 here, and Relyon quotes it at 26.5cm. For a fuller, deeper pillow top for less money, the Natural Luxury Supreme is the better buy. The Luxury Silk makes more sense if a lower mattress suits your bed frame and sheets.

Who should buy it

Side sleepers, couples and anyone who runs warm under foam are the natural match. With a top this soft, front sleepers may find their hips dip, so a medium-firm model such as the Chelsea 1500 Memory is the safer Relyon for them. Wool and silk also rule it out if you need an animal-free bed.

Delivery, returns and care

Delivery is free to most of the UK mainland, usually the next day for sizes in stock, and the mattress arrives flat rather than rolled. MattressNextDay offers no sleep trial on this model. You can cancel an unopened, unused mattress, and you arrange and pay for any return yourself. Relyon guarantees it for 10 years.

As a single-sided mattress it only needs rotating head to toe, and flag-stitched handles on the sides help. A 34cm depth needs deep-pocket fitted sheets, so check yours before the delivery arrives.
