The Relyon Luxury Silk 2850 is a no-turn pillow top mattress with pocket springs in its core and a second layer of mini pocket springs inside the pillow top, under cashmere and silk. It is the top of the Naturals line in Relyon’s Classic collection and the softest Relyon we review.

Two layers of springs

Relyon’s spec sheet explains that the 2,850 in the name combines the main pocket springs with the mini springs in the pillow top, counted in a king size. The National Bed Federation’s buying guide describes mini springs as low-profile units, under 3cm high, used as a resilient comfort layer in place of traditional fillings. Here they sit under a blend of cashmere hair and silk, with firmer springs round the edge and three rows of side stitching to keep the border straight.

Size Dimensions (cm) Total springs Weight Price at Mattressman
Single 90x190 1,611 24kg £775
Small double 120x190 2,237 31kg £909
Double 135x190 2,500 35kg £909
King 150x200 2,850 41kg £1,029
Super king 180x200 3,507 49kg £1,299

Spring counts and weights are from Relyon’s Classic brochure. Relyon quotes a 26.5cm border height, while Mattressman lists the mattress at 33cm, a figure that appears to include the loft of the pillow top. Allow for the larger number when you buy fitted sheets.

How soft is it?

Relyon publishes no tension grade, and Mattressman puts it in its softer grade, the gentlest of five. We place it on the soft side of medium, at 4 out of 10. The pillow top gives the shoulder room to sink when you lie on your side, while the main springs below stop the hips dropping. Back sleepers who like some cushioning will also be comfortable. Front sleepers are the poor match, because a soft top lets the hips sag and arches the lower back.

Against the Natural Luxury Supreme 2150

The Natural Luxury Supreme 2150 Pillow Top is the cheaper Relyon pillow top, at £819 for a double against £909 here. It is deeper, at 34cm, with wool and silk instead of cashmere, but there are no mini springs in its top. Choose the Luxury Silk if you want the more responsive, spring-filled pillow top and a slimmer profile. Choose the Supreme if the deepest, fullest top for the money matters more.

Buying and care

At Mattressman in October 2026, the single and king were in stock, while the small double, double and super king were made to order with delivery in December. Baskets over £700 were getting 10% off automatically, and those over £1,000 15%. Delivery is free and the mattress arrives flat. The 60-night trial is an exchange only, with a protector purchase and a £50 fee. Relyon guarantees it for 10 years.

Rotate it rather than flip it, and expect the pillow top to show impressions where you lie. The NBF treats that as normal settlement in a well-filled mattress.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Luxury Silk 2850 is our Relyon pick for side sleepers who want a soft, spring-filled pillow top with cashmere and silk and no turning. Front sleepers should avoid it, and if you need a double soon, note that it was made to order with a December delivery date when we checked.”
