The Silentnight Hatfield Memory Foam is a 22.5cm hybrid of a continuous spring unit and a memory foam comfort layer, with a medium-firm feel, made in the UK and sold through Argos. Argos buyers rate it 4.6 out of 5 across almost 2,500 reviews and score its firmness 3.7 out of 5, as read on 5 October 2026.

How it is built

The base is Silentnight’s zoned Miracoil system, a continuous spring unit for which Argos lists 782 springs. On top is a layer of memory foam under a soft knitted cover with a quilted finish. The National Bed Federation’s Bed Advice UK guide notes that memory foam “responds to individual shape and pressure” and has “good pressure-relieving properties”, which is what the layer adds to an otherwise springy coil mattress.

Silentnight describes the feel as medium firm and pitches it at people who change position in the night, or who share a bed with someone who sleeps differently. It is a no-turn mattress, so the Argos product page asks for regular rotation instead of flipping.

Sizes and prices at Argos

Size Dimensions (cm) Argos price
Single 90x190 £249
Small double 120x190 £305
Double 135x190 £315
King 150x200 £369

Prices were regular, with no sale running. There is no super king, and the mattress arrives flat rather than rolled.

Who it suits

The foam layer softens the shoulders and hips for side sleepers, while the medium-firm coil keeps back sleepers level, which is why it works for mixed positions. Memory foam holds more body heat than fibre fillings, so people who wake up warm are better served by a fibre-filled pocket sprung model.

Silentnight backs it with a 5-year manufacturer’s guarantee, and Argos adds its 100-night comfort promise, which allows one exchange for a mattress of the same size.

Unser Urteil

Fazit
„The Hatfield is the Argos mattress we would point to if you want some memory foam hug without giving up springs, at a mid-range price. If you sleep hot, a fibre-filled pocket sprung model is the cooler choice.“
